Look At This Little Baby Gibbon Go

This is the cute baby gibbon from the Twycross Zoo in England. Look at him go. You can see mum sitting by the door. For some reason, she likes to look at the outside, but not go outside. I never seen her, the dad or baby outside. Even though the door is always open. It is such a shame as they've got a really great outside space. They opened the new enclosure in February 2016 and I was really hoping they would adventure outside. The critically endangered northern white cheeked gibbon Females are a cream colour, and males are black.

An interesting fact is that all babies are born with a cream colour, and will change to black after about 1 to 2 years! When they reach sexual maturity, between between 7-8 years, males remain black and females change back to their cream colour! So this baby is going to change to black in the next year or so.

Playing Shufai

Shufai the gorilla baby from Twycross Zoo in England is having fun and games in his inside enclosure. He runs around in circles, dragging a huge tree branch behind him which keeps getting stuck. He's free to play outside as well, but as the whole family choose to be inside so is little Shufai.

Shufai was born on the 24th September 2013. His mum is Ozala and dad the huge Silverback is called Oumbi.

Lope The Gorilla Youngster Has A Go At Asanti

In my earlier video from today Lope was standing well clear of mum. Now he must of decided, if I can't get close to mum I just have a go at Asanti instead. It's feeding time and Lope had more than his share, but Asanti seems to have something that Lope wants. He's getting close to her, has a smell of what she is chewing, but Asanti is in no mood for sharing and pushes Lope out of the way to move on. What does Lope do...he decides to give her a smack on the nose, repeatedly.  Asanti doesn't seem to be that bothered by Lopes action and takes it all in her stride.

Lope Seems To Be In The Dog House With Mum

Lope seems to be in the dog house today. As he tries to avoid mum at all cost. Not sure what happened, but him wielding a stick at her at the end doesn't help the situation. Every time mum comes close with Shufai on her back he moves out of the way and Ozalas face says it all. Lope, Lope what have you done now :-)

Because of the Poll on my community tab ( a new YouTube feature) most of you wanted the videos public as soon as I upload them, rather then on a specific day. So there is another video to come today! #LopeGorillaWithAttitude

Pelican With Its Big Beak And Lots Of Attitude

Pelican With Its Big Beak And Lots Of Attitude

This camera shy Pink-backed pelican from the Twycross Zoo in England is having a bit of an attitude as he shows visitors and the camera that he doesn't like it when anybody or anything is getting too close to its fence. When he opens his long beak you can see right down his throat. The water bird goes into attack mode and after he had several goes at the fence, he moves away from it and has a go at his mate. The mate seems to know better and won't argue with him and just moves further along the tree trunk.

Orangutan Fascinated by Metal Object

The Bornean orangutan youngster Sprout is fascinated by the metal ring in her enclosure. Investigating it by pulling and biting the ring. Sprout is from the Dudley zoo in England where they are currently raising funds for a better and bigger enclosure.

Dudley Zoological Gardens is a 40-acre zoo located within the grounds of Dudley Castle in the town of Dudley, in the Black Country region of the West Midlands, England.  In the past couple of years more and more has been done to improve the zoo with some great new enclosures.

Fox Slides With His Bum On The Grass

Caught this wild red fox last night sliding on the grass with his bum. Has he just got an itchy bum or is he marking his territory ? What ever the reason it did make me laugh anyway :-) I did research it afterwards. It's called scooting. Pet dogs do this as well.

Please note video is partly looped.

Red Sun Over West Midlands Caused By Hurricane Ophelia

Close up footage from today of the very strange red sun over the West Midlands, England. They say it is the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia, the dust dust from the Sahara in the air caused shorter wavelength blue light to be scattered, making it appear red.

Baby Gorilla Shufai Is Having Some Fun

Baby Gorilla Energetic Shufai Play

A little compilation of the day of Baby Gorilla Shufai having some fun running and playing. He's so energetic that he slips a couple of times. I just love it when he swings on that rubber tube with his tiny feet of the ground. Or when he sticks his finger up mum's nose and she just takes it all in her stride.

Orangutan Loves Fishing Autumn Leaves Out Of The Water

Orangutan youngster Sprout from the Dudley Zoo loves the autumn leaves. So much so she fishes them out of the water. She seems to prefer the soft bits of the leave rather than the stalks as she eats it first or is it a case of leaving the best till last?
