Gorilla Lope Creeps Out About Big Ball From The Keepers

The keepers of the Twycross Zoo worked hard to get a huge ball into the gorillas outdoor enclosure. They lifted it over the glass wall, lowered the ball and then dragged it up the slope. Then they put honey on the ball and did all the other usual daily activities to hide food around the enclosure. Oumbi is watching from the window as a keeper pushes some food bits into the balls hole. When he comes outside instead of heading for the ball, he heads for some salad instead. When Lope comes out, he already has some salad, he squeezes to the wall as much as he can, so not to go near the ball. He licks the honey of the windowsill, then has a quick look at the ball, but avoids it. Later when he comes back, he looks at the ball again, like it's alien and then just jabs it. The western lowland gorilla gets a bit closer to look into the hole, but again just pokes it. When he does it a third time, it makes him jump out of the way and he just looks at it like wtf is this thing. Even though he should of got used to it by now as they had it in the inside a while back, but he did avoid it then as well. For the rest of the day he just avoided it all together and was just happy with the salad.

Penguin Works Hard To Provide Nesting Material

It's hard work being a Penguin and providing nesting material for its partner. First he's trying to break some sticks of a bush. He pulls and pulls, but doesn't seem to have a lot of success. You wish you could just lent him a hand and break some of for him. He is more successful when he is pulling vigorously on the grass.

Gorilla Cleans And Peels His Carrots Before Eating

Just like us humans, this gorilla prefers his carrots peeled! Watch him closely as he first wipes off all the dirt from the hay and then peels each carrot with his teeth and spits it out. I slowed down the action so you can see that the bits he peels off fly through the air and drop to the ground. He also chopps off the ends before he starts eating it. This is another video from a different zoo. This one is from the Ouwehand Zoo in the Netherlands.
Twycross Gorillas back next Friday!

Gorillas Astonishing Dodge Of An Electric Fence To See Visitors

Gorillas astonishing dodge of an electric fence to see visitors.
My visit to a different country wouldn't be complete without visiting the zoo to see the gorillas. That's why this week I'll have a Gorilla from the Burger's Zoo in the Netherlands.
It is a pretty big group and I'm not sure on their names. I'll try and find some more info when the time allows.
This gorilla youngster is just amazing. He managed to get through the other side of the electric fence that separates the window and their enclosure just to say hello to the visitors. He moves further down between the fence and the window and starts to contemplate how to get back to the other side of the electric fence to the rest of the group. First he smells the fence careful so he won't touch it with his nose. Now watch him closely, it's just amazing and funny at the same time. He tries to judge the electric fence gap by rocking on his feet and judging with his hands. Rooting for him to make it through to the other site without him getting zapped. Another gorilla comes over to have a look. Wonder what he's thinking. Not feeling to comfortable with getting through the wire gaps , he moves on to another part of the fence and tries again by sticking his arm through the wire gap - judging again. And then relief, happiness , he's done it! He did it like a pro without touching the wire. What a star!
