Gorilla Mum Mayani With Her Baby Girl Thandie

This longer video is of these two gorillas from the Antwerp zoo. Mayani and her baby daughter Thandie.

The baby has such a cute face and those eyes are just something else. :-) She goes and explores her enclosure with mum never far away. Just look at the difference in size from mum's hand and hers. It makes me smile everytime I see the bit where Thandie looks at mum's nipple, her eyes just say it all. I want some of that. :-) Mayani is happy to oblige. At the end of the day, she takes the branch with leaves in her mouth, climbs with one hand and has Thandie dangling on her other arm to the top bunk. Matadi sitting in the back munching on his own leaves.

Close Up Of This Awesome Hippo Playing With A Log

Open wide! Look at those teeth! :-) This Hippopotamus is having a great time playing with that log. Grabbing it, pushing it around and sinking it. Such a powerful animal and really enjoying his pool.

The Hippo is from the Antwerp zoo in Belgium. The weather is hot and the hippopotamus is having fun.

Gorilla Lope Moments

A compilation of new and old clips from the Gorilla youngster Lope.

Lope is playing with a bottle, puts it on his head and jabs it like a boxer a few times on his shoulder. In the next clip he walks off in his funny way. Walking with a bunch of wood wool, then walking upright with his sticks he collected. One of his trademark is to kick his leg out, well in this clip he just holds on to the tube with his leg instead. Looking for food in the purple ball, but only finding water. Inside he plays with a log the Lope way. The outside clips shows Lope getting some wood wool and plonks himself in the shade under the platform. When he doesn't sit on the wood wool , he just carries it around in his mouth. Watch out for the close up of him, it's just so funny when he slides down that slope and than, not sure Lope the Cheerleader lol?

Gorilla Shufai Moments

Shufai sliding, rolling down the slope. Standing on Ozalas head and then falling backwards. Ozala just propping up her head to look what just happened. The next clip Shufai rolling down the slope again. Wonder where he got that idea from. :-) Then he's walking backwards down the slope.

Master at Abseiling in the next clip. Lope his brother watching how he tries to get some wood wool to the platform, but it all falls to the ground. Shufai is looking at the fallen down wood wool as if to say  "how did that just happened" he gives up, puts it on his head instead under the platform with Lope still watching.

Outside Shufai starts some kind of cartwheels and just enjoying being silly. Lope joins him with a roll on his own. In the next clip, Shufai is holding on to mums back and propping himself up. Fun with the wood wool again, when he was still quite small and falling into the grass.

Orangutan Uses "Vending Machine"

This Orangutan from the Pairi Daiza in Belgium loves the "vending machine", in its enclosure. He comes down from the slope, wanting a snack. He picks up a stick and he gets to work. It looks like he's after the peanuts. What he has to do is start at the top, move from one opening to another with his stick and then move the peanut one floor down after another until it reaches the bottom and it will fall out. There are some plastic balls in there to make it a bit more difficult. What an awesome idea. Orangutans always stun me how they manage to use tools. I want one for every zoo I visit, no not an Orangutan, lol, a machine like that for the orangutans. lol! But seriously it's such a brilliant Idea.
This was my first time at the Pairi Daiza Park in Belgium and I'm in awe, the animals look so happy and healthy, a perfectly well kept zoo. It's superb for the animals. No horrible fencing anywhere! As natural as it is possible. Huge enclosures and you just need to look at the animals to know that they are happy. They thought about the visitors as well, there are so many angles you can see the animals from. The park is really well kept, it's the vast amount of grounds they've got and it's all very clean, tidy and well looked after. Every little thing they have thought about. I couldn't fault them on anything. Certainly a lot of zoos could benefit from looking at this one. So make sure to visit if you're nearby! There is lots more to come over the next few weeks from this park and also kicking off the new temporary Wednesday series ( you might of had a clue from my banner :-) : The Brown Bears!
