Gorilla Lope comes strolling along towards the hut and holds the dangling rope. Shufai, his little brother, is on top of the hut and runs to the edge and tries to pull the rope of Lope. He pretends to leave, but comes back and puls himself up the hut's roof. Shufai quickly runs back towards his brother, trying to stop him from coming up. Lope just stays on the ropes and grabs the one that is dangling down to put it in his mouth. Shufai has a little jump. Lope use to do this and I haven't seen him doing it for quite a while now. Shufai wants to go to the climbing frame, but Lope is in the way, so he just jumps down to the ground and up again by rope. He has a look at his big brother, making himself comfy on the ropes by lying on his back. Shufai gets closer to Lope, grabs him and then just jumps over him (that's the thumbnail). What a great move, I slowed it down for you to see. Shufai then turns around and bites Lope in the leg. Shufai wrestles Lope, so that Lope nearly falls off the ropes. Lope gives up and jumps down. Shufai is definitely getting his own back from the times when he was a baby and Lope couldn't stop annoying his baby brother. Shufai doesn't give up and jumps down to his brother.
I explained a little bit more about the gorilla enclosure in this video on my other channel, if anybody likes to see: https://youtu.be/pH-HPJjVxfo Don't forget to sub to the new channel :-)

Bristol Zoo Gorillas Afia And Baby Sister Ayana
Finally back at the Bristol Zoo to bring you lots of new videos from the Bristol Gorillas every Thursday! ( This series was filmed before the coronavirus took over. )
It was a request for me to return there, to have an update on the family, especially from my subscriber swamp5050 who hopefully be happy to see the return of these popular gorillas.
I had a few rainy, miserable days, so most of the footage like this video is from the inside. Bristol zoo gorillas are very challenging to film inside as you can't get close enough to the glass to minimize the reflection. If you would like to see more on how the enclosure looks like and what Jock the silverback daily menu is, please have a look at my other channel : https://youtu.be/ncP8j1hTQ9s , don't forget to subscribe for future travel/zoo videos)
I did have a lucky break in the weather when the females were outside squabbling, you will see these videos later in the series.
In the first video, you'll see the gorilla youngster Afia and her baby half-sister Ayana.
They are having a wrestle and it becomes clear Gorilla Ayana likes to bite her big sister. First the leg and then the arm. Afia gets her revenge and holds Ayana's hand in her mouth. All very playful. Ayana, in turn, decides to sit on her sister. They continue their wrestling match and a really sweet moment when they fall into each other's arms.
Afia was born on the 12. February 2016 and her baby half-sister Ayana on the 22. April 2017. Both were born at the Bristol Zoo.
This series was filmed in January.
Some info on the Bristol Zoo you might like:
The first Gorilla arrived at Bristol zoo in 8th September 1930 named Alfred. The Zoo itself opened in July 11th 1836! The first gorilla birth was on the March 6th 1971.
Currently, there are 7 gorillas at the Bristol Zoo.
Starting of with Jock the Silverback, he was born on the May 31st 1983 at Zoo La Palmyre. He got moved to the Bristol Zoo on the 25.June.2003. His offspring are: Namoki, Komale, Kukena, Afia, Ayana.
Kera was born on the August 26th 2004 at the Parc Zoológic de Barcelona. She moved to the Bristol zoo on the 08.September.2008. Her offspring is Afia.
Afia was born by emergency cesarean section at Bristol Zoo on the 12th of February 2016 after her mother, Kera, showed symptoms of potentially life-threatening pre-eclampsia. She had to be hand-raised. Gorilla Romina took an interest in Afia when the keepers walked past her with Afia on their arm. So Afia was slowly introduced to Romina and in October started bonding with her surrogate mother. Kera did recover after being ill for a while but didn't recognize Afia as her daughter. Romina took over to raise her, but sadly they had to put her to sleep in Aug 2018 because she had an advanced large cancerous mass in her abdomen. Afia by then was part of the group and dad Jock and the other females looked after her.
Touni was born on the 12th of December 2007 at the La Vallée des Singes and got moved to the Bristol Zoo on the 28.September 2015. Her daughter is Ayana who was born on the 22nd of April 2017. Jock is the dad of Afia and Ayana.
Kala was born on the 11th of December 2010 in Hannover. She's the newest member of the group as she joined on the 16.October.2018. She was pregnant in Sep 2019, but sadly lost the baby. The cause of death is unknown.
Kukena was born on the 27th of September 2011 at Bristol Zoo and the further is Jock. She hasn't got any offspring yet and is soon to be moved.

The video:
Starting the video with the most popular family at Twycross, the gorillas! A close up of Lope enjoying some grass.
Oumbi the Silverback puffs up in front of Biddy. More to come from the gorillas during the video!
The alpha male Jambo, the hairless chimp, jumping around.
A lemur close-up with his mate pulling his head away. A close-up of a South American sea lion. A beautiful tiger looking straight into the camera.
A visit to Amsterdam took me to the gorilla youngster from the Artis Zoo. He has a little jump and when the other gorilla beats his chest at the silverback, he jumps down the rock but instead of chasing the chest-beating gorilla the Silverback just has a little twirl instead. Lovable Orangutan Sprout gives me a fist bump through the window. A very clever individual as you might have seen from many of my videos of her. The lar gibbons from the Dudley zoo, always a delight seeing them they do brighten up your day with their funny antics like this one doing his bodybuilding pose.
Shufai is having a little dance on the hut and the white-cheeked gibbon having a little juggle with the salad. His name is Gary and somehow this always makes me laugh. Gary the gibbon. I have no idea how he got his name. Maybe from a keeper's name, but not quite the usual exotic name for a gibbon.
Back to Shufai again and him jumping on mum Ozalas back, when he's really getting too big for a ride, but mum doesn't seem to mind. Lope having a slide down the hill, nothing unusual there, just Lope being Lope :-).
The Elephant baby having a bath at Chester, with dad watching over him.
Back to the funny gibbons, perhaps the best place to sit is not on a family member's head.
A close-up of an owl stare.
A funny Black-tailed Prairie dog doing a march.
The bonobos love playing on that slope. Last year a new baby for the family, that is all smiles.
The Small-clawed Otters started it all, me filming animals. Their amazing juggling skill, handling of pebbles and stones always amazed me. I can't forget Lope's signature upright walk, with Gorilla Biddy, Ozala and Shufai when he was still quite small sitting at the wall.
A Celebes crested macaque looking frantically through the woodchips and the face I made seeing it, well not quite. :-).
A couple of close-up reptiles. A visit to Berlin showed me the giant Panda, all relaxed, eating his bamboo while mum was off view to care for her newborn babies. A young lion from Artis Zoo trying to roar, but instead just pulls a funny face. Back to Twycross with another closeup of Lope. A look at Shufai on mum's back doing some kind of acrobats and a later look of him, He's upper arm are quite amazing. He's going to be strong and Lope better watch out. The Orangutan babies from Twycross Zoo Kayan and her Brother Basuki. Jambo balancing on the ribbon, he still with his two ears. Jambo having a yawn, showing off his huge teeth. My beautiful wild red fox, that is dearly missed. I had a couple of videos/photos of her, but she vanished and it seems like some other foxes have taken over that are not as friendly as she was. Ozala nursing her son Shufai. A close-up of the beautiful Asante, the timid aunt. A close-up of Oumbi and Shufai.
A sea lion, lion and a Puma. Shufai hitting the hose and Lope has a twirl down the slope and then....... you'll have to see for yourself....
