Making a great jungle gym for the two babies. * Orangutan Jim is climbing all over Mum Jazz while Joe is lying in her other arm feeding. Joe is her grandchild. Jim's hairdo and his big teeth make him so adorable. Jazz is keeping her cool with him climbing all over her. Joe is starting to wake up and both climb all over her. Joe has got himself a snack, a dandelion. Later in the video, after Joe peeks over Grandma's shoulder and then Jim pulls himself up by Jazz's head hair, Jazz looks around. Her face lol. We feel for you Jazz. Sprout, Jazz's daughter and Joe's mother is sitting just a little further away eating. #SloggerVlogger #OrangutanBaby #BabyOrangutan Orangutan Mother Jazz (30) from the Dudley zoo became super mum as she's not just looking after her own baby boy Jim born (born 25th of June 2022), now she's looking after her daughter's newborn baby Joe (born 23rd July 2022) as well, as her daughter found first-time motherhood a little bit challenging. When her daughter Sprout gave birth she walked away and left the baby on the floor. Mother Jazz picked the baby up straight away. Jazz is nursing both and giving both love, care and attention. Flanged Orangutan male Djimat is the dad of both babies. Make sure to watch the two babies grow up. via IFTTT *Jambo the hairless Chimp is outside with his gang* The alpha male and his group are getting some veggies outside. Jambo got himself some bell peppers and cucumber. The staff is throwing some more snacks out. The Chimp who is coming up to Jambo's backside is called Jomar. Jambo collects some more food and his mum Coco sits beside him at the end of the video. He has alopecia, a form of hair loss he had since his youth. He was born on the 9th of June 1982. His daughter Genet, a brown chimp with a bald back and his mother Coco (1965) are in the same habitat. Coco is the oldest animal at Twycross Zoo. Jambo's siblings from his father's side are Holly who was born on the 27th of December 1982 and Jomar was born on the 28th of December 1990 both are in the same habitat as Jambo. William his half-brother was born on the 30th of June 1982 and Jambo's first son Peter is in the next-door enclosure. Jambo started to lose his ear in November 2018, which some staff believes happened accidentally, it got ripped by his mum in a group fight. Twycross Zoo mentioned they tried to glue it back on with skin glue, but unfortunately, as time went past he picked on it so much that he lost all of it. In October 2022 Jambo lost a toe, it's unknown how exactly this happened. They have been some fights and agitation when Samatha the female chimpanzee is on heat, which might have been the reason. In 2018 The chimpanzees got their new "Chimpanzee Eden" habitat. A 1,160sqm area with two seven-meter-high indoor spaces which are linked to a large outdoor area complete with huge climbing frames and huts. #SloggerVlogger #HairlessChimpanzee #HairlessChimp Shop/Merch Links with worldwide delivery: Biggest collection of T-shirts, stickers, caps and much more rawshutterbug Redbubble @ https://rb-ambassador.pxf.io/HairlessChimp #AD #RedbubbleAmbassador Amazon USA Store https://www.amazon.com/shop/sloggervlogger #Ad #AmazonAssociate Customizable T-shirts, stickers, apparel, homeware and much more rawshutterbug Zazzle: https://www.zazzle.com/collections/hairless_chimp_jambo-119785925986234731?rf=238978496872225031 Amazon other countries through my website @ https://msvrvisual.weebly.com/amazon-merch.html Some links above and in the video are affiliate links, meaning I earn a commission on final purchases with zero additional cost to you. Gorillas Lope still manages to make us laugh with his antics. Swinging on the rope upside down, with his wiggle is something else. Brother Shufai has to give it a try as well.
Gorilla Lope has some fun swinging from the rope. He's wiggling his feet to make it swing more. Back on the ground, he's biting the hose when suddenly his brother Shufai comes running, trying to hit Lope with both hands. Lope chases after his younger brother. He has his intense play face again. Another swing on the rope with Shufai watching. When Lope gets fed up he pushes Shufai over the log. Shufai rolls off the other side and goes back towards his big bro just as he was about to swing again. Lope hits the floor with his hand. Some more wrestling and a few more swings for Lope. Displaying in front of his dad and brother. In the end, even Shufai has a go at swinging.

Twycross Zoo:
Chimpanzees display like this to retain their places in the social hierarchy, without actually having to physically fight an opponent – it is about intimidating the opponent with lots of noise and bluster instead.
Ozala and Lope have a little wrestle, with mum being a shield to Shufai. Ozala is trying hard not to let Lope anywhere near his brother.
The best bit has to be where Ozala grabs the wood wool and just plonks it on Lope, as if to say here take this, shut up and behave. lol. When Lope starts again mum gets hold of his neck and really has him good. She then moves on top of him and Shufai is not faced at all, he's just clinging on to mums back. Lope manages to wiggle himself free and finally sits down.

The chimps are happy to be outside after a few days of rain. Jambo is displaying and running upright (bipedal). Jomar and Holly get out of the hairless chimps' way. There is lots of noise. Food has been scattered around, so this is quite normal as everyone gets excited.
Chimp Flynn is screaming and hooting as he seems to get everyone going. At one point things look like they are kicking off, but Coco (the brown chimp showing her teeth) seems to save the day with the help of her son Jambo. Coco is 59 years old! Jambo has a kick at the window. Flynn is still screaming and then going towards Holly holding his hand out for her. She comes down and comforts each other. Kibali kicks the window.
Everything calms down and Jambo sits next to Jomar who got himself some red peppers and some ice treat that they hung outside. There is another scream from Flynn as he was just about to kick the window, but he stopped. Jambo decided to go back inside.

The moment we have been waiting for! Orangutan mother and grandmother Jazz is looking after her newborn baby and the newborn baby of her daughter. Sprout was too inexperienced to look after her son and when she gave birth she walked away. Her mother Jazz picked the baby up straight away and never let it go since.
Jazz is sitting up the top. Her mum Jazz with the two babies below her. Sprout followed them around in the past, but always at quite a distance.
Jazz sits on a log with baby Jim and Joe while she tries to squeeze a spot. At that point son, Jim is on her left and Joe on the right.
To my delight suddenly Sprout appeared. She's taking Jim's arm first, holding it, sniffing it. Then she moves over to the other site. Sits next to her mum. Jim is trying to grab Joe's face. Jim slightly touches Sprout's hand and then Sprout starts playing with her son's hair. While she is doing that have a look at Jazz, she looks at her daughter and watches her and plays with the food on her lip. Looking quite content for Sprout to do what she does. Sprout holds her hand out and an inquisitive Jim tries to grab her hand. When Sprout pulls his hand, he pulls away. Sprout still has her hand out and then pulls her's son's arm up ( She didn't yank the arm as hard as it looks in the video, I just edited a bit out as it was me that jolted the camera, I just got too excited about the magic moment lol) Jazz is watching, but is quite happy for Sprout to check out her son. Sprout puts her son's arm in her mouth and slightly bites on it. Joe pulls away his hand. Sprout still holding onto his arm. After that Jazz moved around.
Later in the afternoon. Sprout approached the three again. Sat close to her mum and the babies. Her son was holding his arm out and then Jim was doing the same. So she held Jim's hand first and I think Jazz was pulling Jim away a little. That's when she let go and then started to hold her son Joe's hand. Joe grabbed one of their fingers and then Sproud was holding his hand. She let go. Sprout watches her mum clean Jim's bits. Jazz is holding Jim's foot and Joe is nibbling on Jim's foot. Sprout gets up and has a proper look and then sits down again. Joe is fully awake looking at his mum. Sprout starts playing with her son's hand again. Jazz pulls both babies closer. Sprout grabs Jim's leg to have a look. As Jazz seemed to finish cleaning Jim her son, she now starts to clean Joe's bits. When she's done she moves around and goes back inside. What a magic day! I can't wait to go again to see how it all develops between the four. What do you think, does Sprout know who her son is?

Jambo the hairless chimpanzee hasn't got it easy.
The chimp from the Twycross Zoo ended up in a huge brawl again, resulting in some big cuts. This isn't Jambo's first injury, he has enough battle scars to show. The biggest one losing an ear in a battle. I always thought he lost his ear, fighting with his challenger Kibali, as this is what the educational talks were saying, but it turns out the keepers of the chimps said that it was his mum that did it accidentally. Twycross did try to save the ear, as it was only partly ripped at first, they used skin glue, but Jambo kept playing with it and eventually he lost his whole ear.
The bite he received this time looks quite bad and deep, but sadly this is a common thing among chimps and not just captive chimpanzees. Wild chimpanzees just like other animals fight to stay on top and even kill. I'm sure you're aware of lots of wildlife programs that show this behaviour all the time in different types of animals.
Jambo got in a fight with a male when all the rest of the troop joined in and a massive fight started. Some of the group members jumped on top of Jambo, biting him and others like the females tried to protect him. The chimp on the left is taking a bite out of Jambo and pulls his leg, you can just see this to the left. You can also see Rosie (the chimp with the pink face) cutting in, to defend Jambo. You'll also see Jambo's Daughter Genet ( brown chimp towards the camera) try to get the others off Jambo as well.
As quickly as it started it stopped again and everybody dispersed. Jambo licked his wounds and made his way outside. With the cold winter air, his breathing looks like he's having a smoke and a quiet moment for himself. Charlotte his half-sister comes to check on him and lick his wounds, but Jambo moves away.
Twycross zoo did write an article a while ago when the younger male Kibali was joining the group, but it's still quite relevant now.
They wrote
"What’s happening with the TZ chimpanzees?
Some of the younger females in the group are changing their allegiance to one of our young virile males, Kibali. This attention is giving Kibali more confidence and a keen interest in mating. Jambo is not in favour of this and as a leader of the group tries to control the situation, which sometimes leads to clashes between the two males.
Challenges for power, although completely natural, are not for the faint-hearted. It involves the challenging chimp working to ensure he has his backup in place (lots of bond forming with his chimpanzee pals) and then displaying aggressive behaviour toward the dominant male. The extent of this can vary from lots of loud screaming and chasing around to the use of their strong arms and teeth to prove their power, which may create some injuries. Recently Kibali and Jambo have been entering into this type of combat, with Jambo receiving some nasty-looking wounds. Up until now Kibali has been unable to gain control of the group but he might decide to try his luck again in the future. This is causing tension within the group from time to time while they are transitioning through a time of unrest at the top.
What do we do?
It is important that our chimpanzees are given the space and freedom to live as close to a wild situation as possible. This means foods they have to forage for, space to climb up and along, high places to sleep, freedom of choice to go outside, stay inside, to be seen by the public or not and most importantly to create their own hierarchy. If we were to get too involved in this process it could mean potentially training the chimpanzees to rely on human intervention or it could even elongate the issue. We have an amazing keeper team to take care of our animals, knowing when to intervene or not, and a very well-trained on-site vet team, who monitor and treat injuries as required. Chimpanzees heal very quickly; we don’t rush in to treat injuries (which would require a full general anaesthetic) unless absolutely necessary but tend to let the wounds heal themselves where possible. So in general – we allow our chimpanzees to be chimpanzees!"
