via IFTTT It seems to have something stuck in its teeth and is trying to get it out with the huge tongue. A giraffes tongue can be as long as 50cm!

Monkeying Around - Gorilla Ajabu and Colobus Chase

via IFTTT As Ajabu will have to wait a little longer to play with the new baby girl in the troop, he makes do with chasing the black and white colobus monkey around that share the habitat with the troop. I believe it's wonderful natural enrichment. Ajabu is lying on the rope. The colobus monkey sits just behind him, watching. They both simultaneous jump, swing off the rope. In the next clip, down the bottom, Ajabu moves past Kamba, the oldest member in the troop and chases after the monkey. Both the species seem to enjoy teasing each other. Ajabu sits on the log, first beating his chest at the monkey then hitting the log. He wants to be chased. The colobus monkeys gang up and jump at Ajabu. He moves back but then swings his arm and moves towards the monkey again. Ajabu gives it a good try, but they are just too agile for him to catch them. My favourite bit is where Ajabu got a branch with some leaves and teases the monkey with it, as they watch him eat. Even his mum Shinda climbs after the monkeys, doing a splits on the robes, before deciding it's no good and climbs back down again. Gorilla Kiburi and Nuru's Showing Off Their Canines In A Scuffle

The youngsters showing off some impressive canines. When they finished with their scuffle a quick look through the side window to see how much longer the keeper will be until they are getting their food. The ball makes a good stool and it's always best to keep out of the way of a hungry silverback, even when it's your dad. Although Kiburi is brave enough to bait his dad. Richard looks says it all. He has had alopecia, a form of hair loss since his youth. He was born on June 9, 1982. In November 2018, Jambo lost his ear, possibly due to an accidental fight with his mother. Attempts to reattach it with skin glue failed as he continued to pick on it. In October 2022, he also lost a toe, with the cause unknown but possibly related to fights and agitation during mating season. In 2018, the chimpanzees received a new habitat called "Chimpanzee Eden." Gorilla's Gentle Curiosity Towards the Baby - Shinda Keeping the Silverback at Bay

via IFTTT *Ajabu, a 7-year-old gorilla, is intrigued by a new born in the troop. Gorilla Shinda holds a charging Silverback.* Gorilla Youngster Ajabu (7) is showing an interest in the new born baby girl named Mobi in the troop. He tries to get closer to the little baby wanting to touch her, he manages to just briefly touch the babies cheek, but then pulls his hand away quickly. I think Mother's Duni's arm had something to do with it as well, as she's very protective of her first born and she slightly lifted it up when Ajabu came close. Duni is lying on her back, pulling her new born baby girl up by her hands to check the little one. Ajabu watches closely. As the baby wiggles on mum's chest, Ajabu investigates the babies gender and then moves around so he gets a better view of the baby. Ajabu's mother Shinda moved in front of the scene. The youngster has been trying to get closer to little baby all day. He's being quite patient about it, not like Lope was with Shufai. I'm sure in a few month time Duni will be more accommodating. For now, if you watch Duni's face/reaction throughout she gives him that little nudge here and there or pulls away a little to try to stop him from getting too close. At the end of the video Ajabu tries to gently bite the foot of the baby while mum walks away. Not sure if this is the reason the Silverback Kisumu steps in and charges through his troop all of a sudden or it's just that time of the day where the silverback gets hungry. It's Shinda, Ajabu's mother who slows the big fellow down by grabbing his hand and pulling him back. Shufai, The Cabbage Tossing King

It gets thrown kicked and bashed.* https://youtu.be/MRutOseh6bo Gorilla Shufai practices for an unusual cabbage throwing championship, showcasing his antics with the vegetable both indoors and outdoors. The video also captures Dad, Silverback Oumbi, and Asante involved in the cabbage saga, but gets her treat at the end. He's standing on the platform outside throwing the white cabbage in the air. Sure that was a cabbage Guinness book of record throw. Climbing down and throwing it again. He takes it indoors and there he bashes it while sitting in his nest. He takes a little bite and starts playing with the veg again. Dad, Silverback Oumbi below him. Shufai dismounts from the nest and goes to the back where he smashes the cabbage on the hard floor. At dinner time, it's broccoli, no more cabbage, but that gets thrown as well. However he gets the taste of it and collects all that he can find. Asante at the end of the video, she left the cabbage behind as well at lunch, but evening meal she enjoyed the broccoli like Shufai did. Orangutan Youngster Tombol's Gentle Touch for His Adorable Baby Sister

Orangutan mother Sarikei from Chester Zoo is holding her baby daughter. She is trying to bite/suckle Mum's mouth. Mum's hand is bigger than her daughter's head. getting more active every day, the little one grabs the rope, biting it and pulling herself up. That little foot grabbed Mum's hair to hold on tight. Sarikei older son Tombol comes to have a look at his baby sister and gently touches her face. Was that a smile from Tombol? The baby is suckling on mum's face again. Tombol touches the baby's hand, but Mum's reaction makes him pull away. Tombol tries to get closer. He tries again to touch her hand, but Mum is very protective. Tombol goes off and plays with the hessian sack. The baby was born on the 31st of August 2023 to Mother Sarikei and Father Willie I believe. I believe they haven't named the baby yet. Window Kicks and Josie's Affection with Kibali and Jambo

via IFTTT Kibali is hooting in front of the window and then charging, kicking the window. Jambo is climbing, showing his back muscles. I think he gained some weight again after being quite slim end of last year, which is good to see. While Jambo is climbing Jambo's girl Josie is pulling Kibali into the nest for a groom. Jambo now on the floor climb back up again where Josie meets him. She's tapping her hand against his jaw and the thing that gets me is when she holds his chin which she does quite often with Jambo. He has had alopecia, a form of hair loss since his youth. He was born on June 9, 1982. In November 2018, Jambo lost his ear, possibly due to an accidental fight with his mother. Attempts to reattach it with skin glue failed as he continued to pick on it. In October 2022, he also lost a toe, with the cause unknown but possibly related to fights and agitation during mating season. In 2018, the chimpanzees received a new habitat called "Chimpanzee Eden." It spans 1,160 square meters and includes two seven-meter-high indoor spaces connected to a large outdoor area with climbing frames and huts. The links are like my sidekicks – affiliated buddies! Silverback Oumbi Showing Off His Pecs

via IFTTT *Silverback Oumbi enjoys a clean floor, pushing cabbage leftovers with his foot. Grandma Biddy appears stiff, and Shufai playfully interacts with the silverback. Twycross Zoo repaired a window, promising more filming opportunities.* Oumbi seems to like to sit on a clean floor as he pushes the cabbage leftovers away with his foot. Sitting there like that you can just see how magnificent he is. He showed off his pecs by coming even closer to the window. Grandma Biddy was struggling a bit on the day. She seemed very stiff. Shufai came bouncing down the ropes, while the silverback took a seat on the pole. To finish the clip off, Oumbi looked up at Shufai who was just resting in the net and obviously had the Lope bug for a second as he tried to throw Shufai off the net or maybe just annoy his son. As he moved on, Shufai got up out of his net and swung towards the silverback nearly hitting his dad on his backside. Twycross Zoo finally had the window repaired inside, so I hope that will give me some more opportunities to get some more footage.
