A Merry Christmas from me and Twycross Gorilla Family to all who celebrate it and happy holiday to all who don't!
Some funny little Shufai moments for you in a compilation. Shufai is running around, having his mad few seconds, beating his chest and trying to walk like his big brother Lope (the human walk) but unfortunately it needs some more practice as he looks more like he had a great time at the Christmas eve party and drunk a bit too much as he stumbles through the grass. In the end it's all too much and he has a little lie-down.
A video vlog of the newest animal videos released on YouTube. Primate videos like the #HairlessChimp Jambo from the Twycross Zoo, Gorilla videos from UK and Abroad. Orangutan and Bonobo videos. New videos or #shorts every day of the week!

Just Lope Having A Lazy Day
Nothing special, just Lope having a lazy day in the winter sun. A video I still had from my last visit to Twycross zoo. Just looking at him there, with his broad shoulders, he is definitely getting bigger. :-) I do love that huge yawn.

Near Miss Dashcam Footage As Driver Jumps Red Light
Near miss on the A5 Weeford Interchange roundabout near Drayton Manor Theme Park, between Lichfield and Tamworth, England. I drove through the green light when all of a sudden a car cuts me off from the right hand site making me hit the brakes hard. He must of jumped the red light and then proceeded to turn left not just making us break but the other drivers as well.
Sorry about the video quality. It was dark and raining heavily.
I deleted the swearing due to YouTube policy.

Baby Gorilla Shufai Interrupts Mothers Sleep In The Winter Sunshine
Baby Gorilla Shufai wants to play and keeps disturbing mums beauty sleep. He keeps climbing, standing on her and just in the need for some attention and mum's milk. Mum takes it all in her stride. He has a little suckle and when Ozala finally sits up, Shufai is just giving her that cute look/stare as to stay, common mum a bit more energy, please play with me. She just carries on cuddling him and it looks as if she blowing raspberries on Shufais belly.

When Cute Otters Get Hungry.....
These small clawed otters, also called Asian small clawed Otter are just adorable. When it's food time, they are trying to make time go quicker by playing with the stones. They're 'juggling' them from one paw to another, flip the stones in the air and just love to bounce them off the glass. Just look at their cute face and don't miss the end when a keeper walks past with some food. The reaction is just priceless as they're jumping up and down the glass in anticipation. In the end it's all worth it and they're coming back to the camera to show off their food.

Rare Popcorn Smelling Binturong Close Up
This is the rare and unusual Binturong (Arctictis binturong), also known as a Bearcat. They're originally from Southeast Asia and have been assessed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. This Binturong lives at the Birmingham Wildlife center in Birmingham England together with a couple of otters. They seem to stay out of each others way as they've got different housing within the enclosure, but as you can see in the video, the Otters do pop their head into the Binturong home from time to time. If you haven't heard it before, you're probably wondering.. popcorn smelling? It is actually a proven fact that they do really smell of popcorn! They say the pee has the same chemical compounds 2-AP that gives popcorn its tantalising scent! I can still remember the first time someone ask me, do they really smell of popcorn and I thought they were joking or just crazy, but yes I can confirm they do smell of popcorn! :-)

Otter Looks Frantically For Nest Making Materials
This Asian short clawed otter or oriental short clawed otter is frantically looking for some nesting material and carrying it all its mouth around the enclosure and finally getting it into its den. Even a very thorny bush branch is amongst the collection of leaves and sticks. They say otters build nest every day for comfort and security. Not sure about the comfort bit, with that thorny branch.
Nest are not just for birds! Otters are mammals, along with primates like gorillas and orangutans that build great nests.

Lopes Little Quirks Compilation
Gorilla Lope's Quirk Compilation
Just a little compilation of some of Lopes not so well known quirks that make him such a lovable character.
His funny walks, his left leg kicking out when he walks on all fours , knocking on the shelter and swinging his arms and doing a little hop, my favourite. Not quite sure what he was doing inside the enclosure, but hey that's Lope.

Hairless Chimpanzee Enjoying His Food
Hairless chimpanzee is really enjoying his food. The zoo staff put it a lot of vegetables in a bottle and some wood shavings to make it a bit harder to get to. You can see Jambo removing the wood shaving and eating the vegetables. Jambo suffers from alopecia, which is the general medical term for hair loss. There is always a debate going on is he black is he white. Neither, his colour actually changes from pink to quite dark during the year.
Twycross Zoo is building a new enclosure for the chimpanzees and should be ready next year!

Gibbon Has Fun With Its Crazy Tree Acrobatics
Gibbon Has Fun With Its Crazy Tree Acrobatics
This Lar Gibbon ( white-handed gibbon) seems to have a great time doing crazy acrobatics on the tree. Dudley Zoo in England has a good enclosure. Large natural trees and bushes growing on the banks of the Dudley Castle for the gibbons to climb on and have fun in and this one certainly makes use of all that space. Did you know that gibbons aren't monkeys? There are actually smaller apes or lesser apes. Like all apes, gibbons are tailless.

Orangutan Infant Explores Surroundings Without Mum
Orangutan infant is exploring his surroundings at the Twycross Zoo in England without his mum, but she isn't that far away and has a watchful eye on her son. He's inspecting the climbing net and having a wander. Just look at his hairdo, he just so cute. He's still crawling along when mum comes and picks him up of the grass.

Curious Monkeys - Who's Watching Who?
Curious Monkeys, the Yellow-breasted Capuchin and the Pygmy marmoset come close to have a nosy at the camera. The baby Capuchin monkey is having a good look and licks the glass . Gorilla Dad Stops Son Playing With The Food And Taps His Leg Out
As you saw in my earlier videos, baby Gorilla Shufai had a great time playing with the tree branches. Dad later decided he is going to take all the tree branches away, to take with him inside. He’s obviously not keen on his son playing with the food. Brave Shufai follows him as to say “what you are you doing, give me back those branches.” Back outside again, Shufai actually managed to get one of the tree branches back, minus some leaves, but Oumbi is having none of it and jerks the branch out of Shufais hand. Mum sitting there enjoying her food, not at all worried about her son getting hurt. She knows he's fine and you know how protective she is from my other videos. Look at little Shufai though, he's not fazed by his dad and follows him again. Unfortunately dad being dad, when Shufai touched his leg he taps his leg out ( a "David Beckham" style world cup kick which he deserves a red card for.) and grazed his son. As you can see, Shufai is fine, more bewildered than anything else and then just runs off.

Prickly Business - Otter Versus Thorny Bush
This Otter from the Twycross Zoo is having a battle with a thorny bush in his enclosure. You would think he would of chosen the much easier tree on the other site of his enclose, but no only this thorny bush will do. His mate is watching him and giving him a quick poke with his nose as if to say, hey, what are you doing? When he finally got the piece he wanted, it gets proudly paraded. Otters love to collect bits and bobs for building their nests.

Lope The Gorilla Youngster Is Getting Chased
Lope The Gorilla Youngster Is Getting Chased
Thank you for everyone that voted on my YouTube Poll who is chasing Lope. Shufai was a slow start to get the votes and most of you said the dad would be chasing Lope, but in the end Shufai took the lead with 31% . As you can see, yes Shufai is chasing Lope. I also made the video longer, because lots of you requested a longer video. So hopefully you won't get bored now, but who can get bored with Lope and Shufai? :-) It was a real pleasure watching little baby Shufai chasing after Lope. I think Shufai had a lot more energy than his big brother. As Lope seemed to get quite tired and maybe even a bit annoyed, but watch til the end to see what happens!

Look At This Little Baby Gibbon Go
This is the cute baby gibbon from the Twycross Zoo in England. Look at him go. You can see mum sitting by the door. For some reason, she likes to look at the outside, but not go outside. I never seen her, the dad or baby outside. Even though the door is always open. It is such a shame as they've got a really great outside space. They opened the new enclosure in February 2016 and I was really hoping they would adventure outside. The critically endangered northern white cheeked gibbon Females are a cream colour, and males are black.
An interesting fact is that all babies are born with a cream colour, and will change to black after about 1 to 2 years! When they reach sexual maturity, between between 7-8 years, males remain black and females change back to their cream colour! So this baby is going to change to black in the next year or so.

Playing Shufai
Shufai the gorilla baby from Twycross Zoo in England is having fun and games in his inside enclosure. He runs around in circles, dragging a huge tree branch behind him which keeps getting stuck. He's free to play outside as well, but as the whole family choose to be inside so is little Shufai.
Shufai was born on the 24th September 2013. His mum is Ozala and dad the huge Silverback is called Oumbi.

Lope The Gorilla Youngster Has A Go At Asanti
In my earlier video from today Lope was standing well clear of mum. Now he must of decided, if I can't get close to mum I just have a go at Asanti instead. It's feeding time and Lope had more than his share, but Asanti seems to have something that Lope wants. He's getting close to her, has a smell of what she is chewing, but Asanti is in no mood for sharing and pushes Lope out of the way to move on. What does Lope do...he decides to give her a smack on the nose, repeatedly. Asanti doesn't seem to be that bothered by Lopes action and takes it all in her stride.
Lope Seems To Be In The Dog House With Mum
Lope seems to be in the dog house today. As he tries to avoid mum at all cost. Not sure what happened, but him wielding a stick at her at the end doesn't help the situation. Every time mum comes close with Shufai on her back he moves out of the way and Ozalas face says it all. Lope, Lope what have you done now :-)
Because of the Poll on my community tab ( a new YouTube feature) most of you wanted the videos public as soon as I upload them, rather then on a specific day. So there is another video to come today! #LopeGorillaWithAttitude

Pelican With Its Big Beak And Lots Of Attitude
This camera shy Pink-backed pelican from the Twycross Zoo in England is having a bit of an attitude as he shows visitors and the camera that he doesn't like it when anybody or anything is getting too close to its fence. When he opens his long beak you can see right down his throat. The water bird goes into attack mode and after he had several goes at the fence, he moves away from it and has a go at his mate. The mate seems to know better and won't argue with him and just moves further along the tree trunk.

Cutest Fly Catcher Epic Fail
A fly is annoying the cute black Black-tailed prairie dog from the Twycross Zoo in Atherstone England. Standing perfectly still, the fly is whizzing around the Prairie dog over and over again. When the fly lands on the dog’s fur, it starts trying to shoo it away until what it looks like it might have actually managed to catch the fly and eat it. If you look closely the fly got away, but the prairie dog doesn’t seem to want to admit to it and pretends to eat it. Epic Fail!

Yawning Animals How Contagious Is It
This is a compilation of different animals that yawn. Taken at different English zoos. This took months to put together, because the animals never yawn when you want them to or they just look away when they do. Which one had the best yawn? Did you yawn, is it contagious? Someone wrote that the same as humans, animals do get the contagious yawn.
Animals in the video: Apes, Bush Dog, Lemurs, Lion, Tiger, Sea lion, Otter , leopard, Gibbon, bonobo, Cheetah, Snow leopard and meerkats. Hopefully if you did yawn it was a contagious one and I didn't bore you. :-)

Funny Running Penguins And Gulls That Snatch Their Food
These are the funny running penguins again from the Welsh Mountain Zoo, in Wales. You've just got to love the penguins running, well wobbling across the grass. They love to come out of there enclosure and and get their fish. This time though, a lot of seagulls are trying to steal the food from them, even though the keepers feed the fish to them by putting it straight into their mouth. The gulls manage to pull the fish from the penguins beak. I looped and slowed down the action at the end.
Baby Rhino On A Fallen Tree Trunk
This is the adorable baby Rhino from the Chester zoo. The playful black rhinoceros baby climbs on this fallen tree trunk and seemed to be stuck on it, but after wiggling a bit he manages to get himself of the trunk again.
The black rhinos are critically endangered.

Meerkats Tire Themselves Out Searching For Food
The meerkats have an enrichment day at the Twycross Zoo. Meaning they are getting lots of toys to play with. In this case a toy with food hidden inside. They are vigorously searching for the food in the Toy, so much so that at the end they are that tired that they just collapse on the ball and fall asleep. One of the meerkats is that tired that it's flat out on his back.

Tidy Orangutan Mother Is Cleaning Toys Away
Twycross zoo is having an enrichment day for the animals and thrown lots of colourful balls and some boxes into the enclosure. The new orangutan mum with her baby in her arms decided it looks all a bit messy and starts cleaning up by putting all the balls back into the box. Still with her newborn in her arms, she then carries the boxes with the balls in her mouth all the way up to the top of her climbing frame. She only drops one red ball! What a champ.

Chimpanzees Get Excited Over Birthday Party
It's Tulis 10th Birthday. Twycross zoo made the celebration special by putting on a special feast out for the chimps including the layered frozen ice cake. They whole enclosure got decorated with hats, plates and paper chains and lots of scattered food.
Look out for the chimp that really gets in the party mood, by having the paper chain around his neck!! You would of thought he just got caught up in it, but watch closely! He actually looses the paper chain a couple of times and puts it back around his neck!
A great Party Twycross!

White lioness shocked by male lion's advance
It seems that even the animal kingdom cannot escape unwanted advances by males! In this hilarious clip, a funny moment at the zoo is captured on camera as a gorgeous white lioness brushes against a sleeping male. When he wakes up and puts his paw around her in a loving gesture, only to have her jump back in surprise. The other female lioness then comes over to investigate what all the fuss is about! Talk about hilarious!

Orangutan Loves To Eat Some Winter Ice
The orangutan male covered himself up with a sheet, but the cold doesn't stop him from enjoying some ice. The morning frost covered the wooden planks with a thin layer of ice that he's scraping of with his lips ( I'm glad it isn't metal, don't want his lips to get stuck) At the end you can see him forming an ice ball with his lips.

Today:
Hilarious Lope Drumming On Grandma's Head
I love this one. Lope the gorilla comes up behind Grandma Bidi and starts drumming on her head. Grandma turns around, looks at the youngster in disgust, looking him up and down. Lope looking away as to say 'I didn't do anything' 'wasn't me' rolls backwards and then 'OK, I just leave then'

Snow Leopard Cub Takes A Tumble From A Height
It is difficult enough to jump up those rocks for the newborn snow leopard cubs without your sister keep throwing you off again.
The snow leopard twins are playing on the rocks with one of them keep pushing the other one back to the bottom. One fall in partially looks quite scary as the cub tumbles from a height.
The one that pushed the other one off looked quite concerned as well, but there was nothing to worry about as the thrown off cub just got back up again and carried on climbing the rocks, before a few more tumbles.
The two twins, both female were born in April 2017. Twycross zoo in England had them off show until now to settle into the world. This is the third pair for mum Irma and dad Suou.
They are an important part of the international breeding programme. Snow leopards are classified by IUCN as Endangered.

Gorilla Lopes Different Aproches To Baby Brother
The Gorilla youngster Lopes different approaches to his baby brother. The drumming his chest approach, the easy does it - I'm not really trying to approach, big circle approach, the oh so careful rolling approach or the failed grabbing approach. In the end the just run and grab approach seems to work to get his hands on his brother, but his mother is having none of it. Watch out for the next video Tweet #LopeAdventures video!

Lope The Gorilla Drags Baby Brother Across The Grass
Lope got his hands on his baby brother, unfortunately not in a gentle way, but it looks worse than it really was! The Mother was there straight away to intervene and Lope let go at that point.
Lopes sibling was just fine, playing again afterwards and even getting close to Lope again with no hard feelings towards his brother. It is gorillas after all, a bit of roughness is to be expected. So don't be too hard on Lope! :-)

Cute Newborn Tapir Has First Swim With Mother
Adorable Newborn Tapir Has 'First' Swim With Mother
The summer weather has finally arrived and it is getting hot. The tapir mother is showing of its newborn baby in the water as the little one has one of its first swim in the pool. It's hesitant at first to jump in (there are actually several easier ways to get into the water) and it’s still quite shaky and unstable on its legs. As soon as the calf is in the water, the mother is there step by step or in this case swim stroke by swim stroke. The newborn seems to struggle at first, but quickly getting used to the water and having fun swimming around.
The baby is roughly 2 weeks old and is only on show to the public for a few hours a day to get it used to its surrounding. I was lucky enough to catch this cute bundle of joy.
They are born dark and covered with stripes and spots that fade within 3 month and disappear at about 5-6 month.
