Adorable Newborn Tapir Has 'First' Swim With Mother
The summer weather has finally arrived and it is getting hot. The tapir mother is showing of its newborn baby in the water as the little one has one of its first swim in the pool. It's hesitant at first to jump in (there are actually several easier ways to get into the water) and it’s still quite shaky and unstable on its legs. As soon as the calf is in the water, the mother is there step by step or in this case swim stroke by swim stroke. The newborn seems to struggle at first, but quickly getting used to the water and having fun swimming around.
The baby is roughly 2 weeks old and is only on show to the public for a few hours a day to get it used to its surrounding. I was lucky enough to catch this cute bundle of joy.
They are born dark and covered with stripes and spots that fade within 3 month and disappear at about 5-6 month.
