Gorilla Mum Spending Quality Time With Son

t's so good to see Kala spending time with her son Hasani who is full of energy. As you might know from previous videos, baby gorilla Hasani had to be hand-reared for a while as his Mother Kala couldn't look after her baby. A very skinny Hasani got bottled fed by the staff for a few months until he was strong enough to be able to go back to the troop, but Kala his mum was just not interested. As Kera showed some interest the staff trained her to look after the baby. Both Kera and Kala now share babysitting duties.

Gorilla Shufai Gets Caught In The Sack

Shufai is enjoying the spring weather, resting, and sunbathing on his hessian sack. It's not raining for a change and the sun is beating down. He lifts his foot up in the air and turns around. After his rest, it's playtime. He hugs his sack, puts it over his head and then gets dressed. Wearing it over his belly. Unfortunately no belt was provided so he lost his 'trousers' :-). He goes to the hut's wall and knocks on it. I'm not sure if his big brother Lope is on the other side. He walks with his 'trousers' down and rests in the grass again. There he has a sniff at his hand and tries to put back the sack, but he gets his leg caught while the sack is over his head. He tries to wiggle free, but now he has the sack around his body still with his leg all caught up. He gets up and tries to walk which is all a bit difficult with his foot being caught up. I'm glad Lope doesn't see him like this. Who knows what he would have done. He finally gets free and quickly runs inside. A bit later Lope is taking the sack still outside and puts it over his head. Walks off and sits down when he found a snack. He suddenly turns back to look who's behind him. It's his mother Ozala. So he just carries on eating.

Antwerpen Zoo Gorillas

Noise, Kicking Doors And Windows - All Part Of The Pre Dinner Ritual

The chimps love to kick the doors and the windows before feeding time. Jambo the hairless chimp is running up to the metal door and kicking it with all his power. He doesn't just use one leg, he jumps up to the door with both of his legs kicking it. Everyone gets excited and they want to show off their power and I'm sure they do like the sound of kicking against the metal and the glass making the people jump. The wide-angle view shows a bit more of the enclosure, but this is still only a small part. They have a big outdoor area and there is a big off view area as well. Unfortunately, they haven't managed yet to put the three separated chimpanzees in the main group yet. When this happens the space will double in size. Jambo is balancing along the top. Even Coco (57) the oldest animal at Twycross Zoo and Jambos Mother is making herself heard. Hooting away on the rope. Jambo is still the Alpha male in the group. I'm guessing a lot of that has to do with the females being quite fond of him and helping him when he gets challenged for the role by the younger male Kibali. In this video you'll see him at the end chasing after another chimp that's out of line, but that is rather rare. He is more likely to ignore confrontation if he can. After dinner everyone is happy and it gets quiet. Coco is having her food and Flynn munching away in front of the window. Please note: Filmed at different times.

Gorilla Kera and Baby Hasani

Gorilla Kera is charging at Kala. The mum and Surrogate mum of Baby gorilla Hasani, but where is he? I thought he might be with the staff to get his bottle, but then he appeared from behind the hut. Little Hasani is getting quite the exercise. Little Juni who is roughly the same age as Hasani is always riding on mum Touni's back. Hasani seems to grow up much faster and explore by himself. The mothers do take turns carrying him, but a lot of times he walks around behind them. At the hut, Hasani is in the corner, while Kera is sunbathing. When she finished, Hasani has gone exploring in the grass and I'm unable to see him anymore. #SloggerVlogger #GorillaKera #GorillaBaby My travel channel for travel videos and Zoo walk hyperlapses you'll find here: https://bit.ly/WatchAndSubTravel Shop Links: rawshutterbug Redbubble: https://rb-ambassador.pxf.io/N1JjN #AD #RedbubbleAmbassador rawshutterbug Society6: https://society6.com/rawshutterbug rawshutterbug photo4me: Come and browse wall art at: http://bit.ly/rawshutterbugPhoto4Me Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/3hHPNGG #Ad #AmazonAssociate Amazon USA and other countries through my website: https://msvrvisual.weebly.com/amazon-merch.html

Chimps Get Excited At Feeding Time

Jambo the hairless chimpanzee is getting himself some lunch. Collecting as much as he can. Some chimps got hold of a red ball with some goodies in it. Jambo is happy sticking with his greens.

Gorilla Biddy Gets Spooked

Biddy has a sit down in the wood wool. As she starts to go to sleep I'm filming the GoBros. Ozala joined her mum in the back for a sleep. Suddenly you'll see Biddy jumping up, poor Biddy slips on the floor but then she takes her defensive stance. I'm not sure if it was something she was dreaming about, but there was nothing there I could see that made her jump. Not even Oumbi was nearby. The two boys and Ozala are all looking at her. I can't zoom in on Biddy's face as she's partly hidden. Ozala seizes the opportunity to take all the wood wool to make herself comfy. Lope is still staring at his grandmother, but then when Biddy relaxes again everyone else moves on. Biddy moves passed the window as she gathered some more wood wool with her feet. A close-up of her when she lies down her tongue pressed tightly between her lips. #SloggerVlogger #GorillaBiddy Come and browse at my Redbubble Gorilla Merch shop: https://rb-ambassador.pxf.io/Gorillas #ad @redbubble For 15% off, visit my website for an up to date voucher code: https://msvrvisual.weebly.com/sloggervlogger.html T-shirts, stickers, prints, homeware and much more. Chimpanzee Knocks And Licks The Glass

Sweet Chimpanzee William from the Twycross Zoo's Chimpanzee Eden is sitting on a huge ball. His balance is amazing. He knocks on the glass. Has something to eat and then he starts licking the glass. William (30th June 1982) is Jambo's (Hairless Chimp) brother and one of three chimps still separated from Jambo's group until the larger group will accept them into their group. As it has been a few years trying to do this already, it shows that it isn't as easy as it sounds.

Two Gorilla Mothers With Their Babies On The Back Charging And Clapping

This week we're back to the Bristol Zoo Gorillas. Keeping you up to date with the family every Thursday. Gorilla mother Touni with her son Juni on her back is standing in front of Gorila Kera. She's trying to see what Kera is eating and has a good sniff. Cute baby Juni is wiggling about on mum's back. She moves to the other side and Juni hides behind her back, when suddenly Gorilla Kera comes charging past her. Touni quickly moves out of her way. She then walks to the front of the hut. Gorilla Kala and her son Hasani are on top of the hut. Kala is charging and beating her chest with her baby on her back. A close-up of Touni and Juni below. Juni is having a glance to the top. Probably wondering why Kala is shaking her head and what all the charging and beating her chest is for. Then Kala claps her hand and Hasani holding on tight to her back. Now Touni is kicking against the hut. That's when Kera (Hasani's surrogate mother) is coming around the corner. Juni is making a quick getaway. It seems like Kera and Kala are almost ganging up on Touni. As Touni was always the most confident and she was the one that did the charging. Kera sits down, has a quick look towards Kera and Hasani. It's like a "You're OK now, she's gone" type of reaction. A few minutes later Touni turns the tables by beating her chest towards Kala and Hasani. (Touni/Juni on the left and Kala and Hasani on the right), but that was it and they move in different directions. I try and see the Bristol zoo gorillas every couple of months or so. On this visit, it seems that Kala (Hasani's real mother) is spending a bit more time with her son. There are still limits for her and she's still sharing motherly duties with Kera the surrogate Mother. Hasani seems quite happy in swapping mums. Him being quite clever he probably uses the situation to get his own way. :-) More next Thursday! The first Gorilla arrived at Bristol zoo in 8th September 1930 named Alfred. The Zoo itself opened in July 11th 1836! The first gorilla birth was on March 6th 1971. Currently, there are 8 gorillas at the Bristol Zoo. Starting off with Jock the Silverback, he was born on May 31st 1983 at Zoo La Palmyre. He got moved to the Bristol Zoo on the 25.June 2003. His offspring are: Namoki, Komale, Kukena, Afia, Ayana, Hasani and Juni. Kera was born on August 26th 2004 at the Parc Zoológic de Barcelona. She moved to the Bristol zoo on the 08.September 2008. Her offspring is Afia. Afia was born by emergency cesarean section at Bristol Zoo on the 12th of February 2016 after her mother, Kera, showed symptoms of potentially life-threatening pre-eclampsia. She had to be hand-raised. Gorilla Romina took an interest in Afia when the keepers walked past her with Afia on their arms. So Afia was slowly introduced to Romina and in October started bonding with her surrogate mother. Kera did recover after being ill, but didn't recognize Afia as her daughter. Romina took over to raise her, but sadly they had to put her to sleep in Aug 2018 because she had an advanced large cancerous mass in her abdomen. Afia by then was part of the group and dad Jock and the other females looked after her. Touni was born on the 12th of December 2007 at the La Vallée des Singes and moved to the Bristol Zoo on the 28.September 2015. Her daughter is Ayana who was born on the 22nd of April 2017. On 22 December 2020, Toni gave birth to the second baby gorilla for Bristol zoo that year during covid lockdown and he was named a combination of his Mother’s and Father's name, Juni. Kala was born on the 11th of December 2010 in Hannover. She's the newest member of the group as she joined on the 16.October 2018. She was pregnant in Sep 2019, but sadly lost the baby. The cause of death is unknown. On August 19th 2020 Kala gave birth to baby Hasani. Unfortunately she couldn’t feed him properly and was being hand-raised by Bristol Zoo staff members. In May 2021 Kera showed interest in Hasani and became the new surrogate mother of the little boy. I will put some playlists at the bottom for you to follow from early on until this day. On 3 September 2022 the inner city center Bristol zoo is closing and relocating some of their animals like the gorillas to the Wildlife project place which is just outside of Bristol not too far away. If you would like to see more of the Wildlife place they are moving to, you can watch this hyperlapse I have done on my travel channel: https://youtu.be/PUZ1F2dwhEE All Bristol Zoo Gorilla videos: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLX...
