Gorilla Indigo's Food Fumbles On A Pole At Budapest Zoo

via IFTTT *Indigó cleverly stakes out the top of a pole during feeding time at Budapest Gorilla Outside, showcasing amusing attempts to catch her favourite food, while the rest of the gorilla family enjoys their meals in preferred spots.* It's feeding time at the Budapest Gorilla Outside. The food is thrown in from above from two keepers. Indigó's favourite place to get her food is on top of the pole, closer to the keepers while the others all seem to have their favourite place. The first thing that is getting thrown Indigó tries to catch it but fails. She stands up on the pole and beats her chest. The second one, nope went past her as well, but you have to give it to her she sticks with her plan and stays on the pole. Silverback Golo and Indigó's mum N'yaounda are tucking into their lettuces. Sweet Indigó is still holding her hands out to get some food and finally, she gets her lettuce. N'yaounda 'has another lettuce, pulling a bit off and crunching it together before eating. Just look at her face, truly enjoying her lettuce. Indigó quickly puts out her arms for some more, so funny with her straightening up her back. The leek goes past her, but then she catches some lettuce. Iringo comes down from the strap and gets herself some food that has fallen onto the grass. Some more hit-and-miss moments for Indigó before she dismounts from the pole to get some food from the ground. Next week more from the family. N'yaounda signs when she wants more. Jambo's Bug Fighting Tactics at Twycross Zoo

via IFTTT Jambo, the bald chimpanzee from the Twycross Zoo, thoroughly enjoys his time lounging in the hammock outdoors. However, there's a hiccup – bothersome insects that he shoos away. When the insect buzz becomes overwhelming, he ascends to the top, seeking refuge from the pesky critters. Filmed in Sep 2023 An update from my recent visit at Twycross Zoo. Everyone including myself thought Jambo lost quite a bit of weight as seen in the last week's video. He did look OK this time around and was eating normally from what I saw. His sniffles seem to have gone as well. On a worrying note, I couldn't spot his mother, Coco, during two feeding sessions, and it has been a couple of weeks since I last saw his half-sister, Chimp Holly. In October 2022, he also lost a toe, with the cause unknown but possibly related to fights and agitation during mating season. In 2018, the chimpanzees received a new habitat called "Chimpanzee Eden." Last Footage From Gorilla Lope's Bachelor Pad At Twycross Zoo 2/2

via IFTTT This is the final footage of Gorilla Lope at his bachelor pad at Twycross Zoo before his relocation. Gorilla Lope is standing, gazing to spot the tortoises. I wonder if he misses them at his new residence. Probably not he would have far more important and more exciting things to deal with. He is scouring the floor for seeds amidst the wood shavings; it's not an easy task. He assembles all the shavings, clasps them in his hand, and proceeds to blow off the wood shavings, leaving him with the seeds. A close-up captures his fingers picking up some seeds. Later, he munches on the leaves, which he strips off the branch. This was the final full video I made of Lope in his bachelor pad. He has now moved to a new troop. Unfortunately, I still don't know anymore, as soon as I do I will update everyone on his progress in his new home. He leaves a great big hole on my visits to Twycross Zoo and I miss him dearly. Hero Gorilla Lope Defending His Mother When Silverback Attacks Her

via IFTTT As much as he was a rascal to his Mother Ozala, when it came to it and Oumbi charged and pounced on her he defended her together with his little brother Shufai. You see how little Shufai was back then, but that still didn't hold him back, they both made the silverback stop. Oumbi was in a bad mood all day and especially when he's hungry, he gets a bit like it. Lope screams at his dad and then runs after him. Mischievous Orangutan Youngster From Budapest Zoo

via IFTTT The young Sumatran orangutan has a great character. So playful. She walks upright to the window. Wipes her food across it and then she just lets herself fall backwards. A little later she is eating up the top and bits of food and her spit is falling on the Orangutan below. The orangutan on the ground, just looks at her face looking up at the youngster "What are you playing at? I'm getting covered in all your drool and food bits" She tries to wipe it all off. The youngster plays on the hammock and instead of climbing down she just lets herself fall off, catching herself with her one food. Dankgling there and wiping the floor. She drops to the ground. It doesn't take long for some more shenanigans. She tries to get hold of the other orangutan's feet. When she can't pull them out, she starts biting them. That doesn't work either so she stands up straight to try to pull the legs more. Again she lets herself fall backwards and finally, the other Orangutan shows her feet. The youngster starts to pull and bite her feet. Unfortunately, as you have to stay a meter away from the window, I was unable to cut out the glare a dirt on the window. Gorilla Youngsters Wild Side

via IFTTT Gorilla Youngster Indigo from the Budapest Zoo has a wild side. She's playing on the strap and messing around with the wood wool. Even Dad Golo is not safe from her energy. She has a quick wrestle with the silverback before she returns to the strap. Golo kept his calm. Iringa who I think is her surrogate mother chases her off. Indigo was hand raised and now she spends most of her time with Iringa. Iringa is quite a big girl, but boy can she move and play like a youngster when she wants to. Last year got got asked if she was pregnant, this time I got told nope, she just likes her food. Must be a common answer as I got the same answer from Twycross staff when I enquired about Ozala :-). When Indigo is back on the strap, it's Liesel the other female on the right. Liesel is not as keen to play so she moves away from the energetic youngster. A quick face shot of Liesel, taken outside where the light was a lot better. Outside Indigo has some more wood wool fun and some more shots of Indigo. Filmed Oct 2023. The gorillas at the Budapest Zoo are very difficult to film inside as they have a 1.5m barrier away from the window. That's why I'm unable to cut out any glare. Close Shave - Jambo's Tumble and Recovery

via IFTTT Jambo the hairless Chimp from Twycross Zoo moves from the hammock to go to the new enrichment. A log with some holes, probably filled with sticky oats or similar. He sticks his finger in to get some out. When he had enough he moved on, balancing on the strap. He climbs down, past his mum Coco (65). He soon climbs back up, walking on the log behind the netting and past Samantha. He sits down for a second before he's on the move again. That's when he suddenly slips from the strap but manages to catch himself. I'm wondering if it was that they all were feeling a bit under the weather as lots of them including Jambo had a runny nose. Jambo carries on by sliding along the strap. Samatha in the background is not worried at all. She didn't even look up from eating. Lope's Last Bachelor Pad Days 1/2

via IFTTT These are Lope's last bachelor pad days. Sitting high up the tree. He sits there sucking his thumb and playing with his nipple, a typical Lope thing. Our favourite rascal seems to have been moved now and I'm still trying to get some confirmation of where he's gone to. The rumour is still that he has gone to Zoo du Bassin d'Arcachon in France, but no news from either of the zoos yet. Not being able to go outdoors because of the quarantine must have been frustrating. He's up there grabbing the hose, chewing the end of it, and then giving it a shake. He sticks his finger in the hose to see if there is any food in there. The staff normally does this so they have to use a stick to get it out. This one was all empty and you can see Lope's reaction. When he has his mouth open he watches the tortoises getting fed. It's his main pastime while he's in quarantine. He really needs to be with some company now. As much as I'm going to miss him, I just want him to be happy. His mind needs to be challenged again, not something tortoises can do. He moves along and has a quick bite at the log. He climbs back down to the floor and goes into the other part of the enclosure. He has a quick snack before he retreats to the back to have his snooze. The Playful World of Bonobo Apes

via IFTTT Upendi, the bonobo baby, is quite feisty, as you can see straight away when he jumps up to the youngster and hits him. Don't mess with little Upendi, lol. When the video starts, I think it is Lola's Mum, Likemba, on the left. Upendi, the baby, is in front of the naughty youngster. Lola is just on the right of the two. And by the door, I think that is Cheeka, Upendi's mum. Lola and Upendi are quite the team and gang up on the naughty youngster who gets another right hook from baby Upendi. The youngster is not welcome, and Likemba chases after him. She returns Upendi and Lola. Likemba seems to be babysitting Upendi while Mum is squeezing her spot. The youngster gets close again, and Upendi is getting ready to battle again, but Likemba holds him back. I think the bonobo that rolls to the back trying to grab Upendi is Cheeka, his mum. She chases after him. In one door, out the other. Lola, meanwhile, has a go at the youngster again. Cheka catches up with Upendi and gets him back inside. Lola is hitting the youngster as he tries to grab her.

Orangutan Male Benji And His @tesco Basket #shorts

via IFTTT This is the interesting male Orangutan with huge flanges called Benji. He has his own little quirks. Discover the fascinating story of Benji, the remarkable Orangutan. A lone male who prefers his solitude. The zoo staff made efforts to pair him with Jazz, but unfortunately, Benji showed no interest. A distinct characteristic of Benji is his strong attachment to a red bread crate, which acts as his comforting companion. Whether he's sitting inside it or carrying it around, the crate seems to provide him with a sense of security. Whenever the crate becomes damaged, it greatly upsets Benji, but the staff promptly get it replaced. (Thank you @tesco supermarket for supplying a new crate when needed) though it takes some time for him to adjust to the new one. Interestingly, Benji has a fondness for the company of female keepers and visitors, earning him the reputation of a ladies' "man." He eagerly approaches them to satisfy his curiosity. On the flip side, Benji exhibits a dislike for bald human males, for reasons unknown. In their presence, he can become quite grumpy and agitated. Stay connected and never miss a moment! A Close Up with Twycross Zoo's Gibbon Mum and Baby

via IFTTT Some more from the baby baby pileated gibbon at Twycross Zoo. A few weeks have gone passed since I filmed the family and the little one is a lot more energetic. Scratching and even poking a finger in its own eye. The barrier of the glass has now been removed as Mum feels comfortable with visitors and she enjoys sitting in front of the window even with enough places to hide if she wants to. This gives me a chance to film a bit closer and less reflection. Mum enjoys her favourite food, carrots. She goes to get some from the back tray or from above and always takes some spare, holding them with her feet. The little one is holding on when Mum moves. Afterwards, back to the window to eat. Did you see the baby shaking its head? Not sure what that was about. While mum holds on to her spare carrots the baby tries to have a taste of the carrots. Those eyes :-). This adorable baby gibbon was born on the 28th of August to mum Valeria and dad Helmut.

Introducing The Budapest Gorilla Troop

via IFTTT Today starts a new series and I'm back to the Budapest Gorilla troop for some up-to-date footage. This is a quick video, an introduction as I wanted to update my previous introduction. Also, I've done a #shorts video of the gorilla family. The group consists of five gorillas. Silverback Golo was born at the Zoologisch-botanischer Garten Wilhelma, near Stuttgard Germany. He was born on the 27th of September 1980 and stayed until the 7th of April 1981 when he moved to Zoo Zürich. He's been at the Budapest Zoo since the 2nd of May 1989. He has four offspring, but only his daughter Indigo is still with him. Female Gorilla Liesel was born on the 15th of April 1977 making it the oldest gorilla in the troop. She was born in Zoo Frankfurt and stayed there until her move to Budapest on the 20th of April 1989. Her offspring are Dango, Gorka and Ebobo. Female Gorilla Iringa also from Germany was born at the Münchener Tierpark Hellabrunn on the 31st of January 1998. From there she was moved to Zoologisch-botanischer Garten Wilhelma on the 3rd of April 2002. On the 3rd of April 2002, she was moved to Zoo de la Boissiere du Doré and to Budapest Zoo on the 14th of April 2003. You might remember her mother from the Munich footage I filmed in 2020. She's called Neema and kept the blackbacks in check, including Ozala's and Oumbie's son Okanda. Jim bit my Finger - Orangutan Baby Version

via IFTTT *A take on the famous video you might have heard from, not the famous video "Charlie Bit My Finger", but the sweet Orangutan babies Jim biting Joe's finger.* The Orangutan babies Jim and Joe are in Jazz's arms. Joe is putting his finger into Jim's nose. Who quickly pulls away, pulling a face. In the next clip, Joe has his finger in front of Jim's face and Jim snaps at it and then starts biting/sucking on his finger. Joe tries to pull it back out, but Jim only lets go when Joe comes closer. Then Jim starts to pull Jim's bed hair, pulls him towards him and then nibbles his ear. That's when Jazz pulls the two apart. Some more play while Jazz is having a rest. This unseen footage is from July 2023, as I was unable to get too much footage on my last couple of visits because of the weather and the family was inside where it was too dark to film.

Farewell Au Revoir Gorilla Lope Starting His Next Chapter of Life

via IFTTT Twycross Zoo announced Gorilla Lope's move last week. Unfortunatly still no confirmation from the zoo, but France ist still the most likley place. Lope has us all spellbound with his shenanigans and his naughty attitude. We love his swagger that makes us smile from ear to ear like when he walks upright (bipedal) which he has done since a young age. He does this comfortably and can walk up and down the slopes like that and across the whole enclosure. I have followed him since he was 3 years, 5 months, 14 days old :-) with the video "Cheeky Baby Gorilla Trolls Silverback Dad" he trolled his dad who kept pretty calm at his antics. It's been one of the greatest things, watching him growing up, growing up to be a blackback. He kept me on my toes, his upright walking swagger makes us laugh every time. We watched him terrorizing his baby brother when he was born and Ozala being a very protective Mother so Lope couldn't get close. That didn't stop Lope from trying, he just didn't give up. He and his brother have got a love-hate relationship. Lope terrorised Shufai, but he grew up very quickly and he got his own back on many occasions. Lope was born at Twycross Zoo on the 3rd Jan 2013. His birth name was Elina. I will keep everyone informed as soon as I get any confirmation on things.

Twycross Zoo's Remarkable Hairless Chimp

He leaves but then decides to have another sip. When he stands there, you can really see the muscle definition. He comes over to the window. Which seemed to happen more often now. He never really used to come to the window apart from kicking it now and again. Gorilla Brothers Shufai and Lopes' High flying Escapades just before the Move to the Bachelor Pad

via IFTTT Gorilla Shufai is sitting on top of the hut and has a cloth on his head. Very fetching Sufai! He climbs down and then sits under the climbing frame. A look back at the GoBros together. His big brother Lope is approaching. He quickly climbs up and on the platform beats his chest and runs towards his brother. Lope tries to reach his brother, but he moves. Shufai made his way to the top with his sheet. Doing his little jump and beating his chest. Lope who moved away comes back running and "flies" up that climbing frame. Shufai tricks Lope by pretending to go down, but then goes back up when Lope comes down one level. Lope bites the black bucket, gets up, tries to grab his brother from below and jumps back down. Shufai is waving the cloth around, which makes Lope approach again, climbing up to the first platform and beating his chest. The cloth is down below and Lope takes it now. With the cloth on his head, he beats his chest again. He gets up, turns around with the cloth in his mouth and beats his chest once more. They both play with the fire hoses until Lope starts chasing his brother again with the cloth on his head until he pulls it down as it is hindering his chase. Another fast-paced chase, ending with Lope doing his side slide down the slope. Next, Shufai is on the top of the hut, with Lope running around the hut and pulling himself up. I don't think Shufai was quite expecting him to be that fast and quickly turned around and made the ultimate jump across. Shufai didn't see his brother didn't follow him but fell back to the ground to take chase from there. When Lope is running towards Shufai, you can really see Lope's canine developing nicely now. They are so fast, it's unbelievable. Good training for Lope for his future in the bachelor troop making him stronger. I didn't have enough footage from Lope in his bachelor pad for this week as he was a lot in the back. Probably crate training for his upcoming move this week. So I thought I'd bring you back to the good old times with this video from July 2023 just before he went into his bachelor pad. I have seen him again after my visits where I didn't get footage and there will be a little more footage to come from his bachelor pad and of course lots more older footage like this video and new footage from Oumbi, Ozala, Biddy, Asante, and Shufai in the coming weeks. When her daughter Sprout gave birth she walked away and left the baby on the floor. Mother Jazz picked the baby up straight away. Jazz is nursing both and giving both love, care and attention. Silverback's Power Play - Pushing Mother Of Tree Stump And Feeding Time

via IFTTT Gorilla Mother Kibara and her daughter Kianga are by the tree stump. Silverback Abeeku approaches, and at first, I thought he was trying to get to some food, but no, he just seems to want to push the mother off the tree. It was just before feeding time, and we know the temperatures always rise when it's that time. Abeeku checks the door, but it's still closed. He turns around and moves the Hessian sack. Kumili and the youngsters jump from the tree to the platform. That tree stump is quite a popular place to be. Just before the door opened, I made my way outside. I catch Abeeku just as he takes some food from one of the youngsters. Kumili enjoyed her food with her hessian sack on her head and I just caught the youngster balancing on the rope. Gorilla Kibara got herself a stick to retrieve the food from the puzzle feeder. There's another log feeder on the other side with holes in it. They all enjoyed their food in their beautiful surroundings. This is unfortunately the last video I had from the Leipzig Gorillas. I wish I could have spent a lot more time here as it was just an amazing zoo to visit.

Jambo's Itchy Dilemma at Twycross Zoo

Sprout's Bold Moves Amidst Orangutan Family Dynamics

via IFTTT Orangutan Sprout seems to have her confidence back as she has a go at her mum Jazz and later even steals some food from the flanged male Djimat. Jazz has both babies Jim and Joe in her arms, picking up some food pellets. Sprout her daughter is next to her. A minute later Jazz still has Joe in her arms but Jim is playing in the back. Sprout grabs her mum's arm as to say "Hey leave some food for me." Listen carefully when she has her back to the camera. You hear a little grunt coming from her. You can just see Jazz moving her head up fast in reply to her little grunt. In the next clip, you see Djimat the dad of Jim and Joe. Jim walks in front of him and on his right is Sprout. You'll love the next clip where Jim comes up to Sprout and has a quick sniff of what she's eating. Djimat is such a laid back maled orangutan. When Sprout comes rushing in to steal some food out of his hand, he just opens his hand and let it go. l Jazz and the babies are walking around in search of some more food and when she gets too close to her daughter she is kept away by her at an arms length, literally as Sprout stretches out her arm. A Peek into Lope's Gorilla Bachelor Pad

via IFTTT Gorilla Lope is busy again watching the tortoises. Trying to look over the visitor's heads. Music from the October fiesta outside. Another look from his hammock, a quick flash of his canines and a quick chest twitch. His chest has really developed now. He's going to be a fine silverback. If you are missing videos of his family. I will be showing them again as soon as Lope has to leave, including some GoBro ( gorilla brothers) footage that I keep rescheduling from just before he moved to the bachelor pad. As you can understand I want to concentrate on Lope as long as he's still at Twycross. I have been filming the family in between when Lope has gone to sleep and also keeping up with Jambo. So there is lots more to come. Lope climbs up the rock to have another look at where the tortoises are while he's clenching his fingers into a fist. He moves on, carefully avoiding the stick with his leg. Another look around, before he climbs higher up. I don't think he's able to see the tortoises from there so he climbs back down again. Going into the back room and coming back out closer to the window. Strutting past me. You might have seen a couple of subtitles that you can turn on or off.
