He's walking around with his hunched bipedal walk. After the close-up of his hand, you see some water coming down. This is done to control the humidity. I had never seen this done before at Twycross and normally when I see it in other zoos it's been more of a mist. Jambo flicks his hands as Jomar goes past. He has had alopecia, a form of hair loss since his youth. He was born on June 9, 1982. In November 2018, Jambo lost his ear, possibly due to an accidental fight with his mother. Attempts to reattach it with skin glue failed as he continued to pick on it. In October 2022, he also lost a toe, with the cause unknown but possibly related to fights and agitation during mating season. In 2018, the chimpanzees received a new habitat called "Chimpanzee Eden." It spans 1,160 square meters and includes two seven-meter-high indoor spaces connected to a large outdoor area with climbing frames and huts. The links are like my sidekicks – affiliated buddies!
