A follow on from the last video. Gorilla Lope finally appeared again after lunch. Doing his upright strut towards the hut. He grabs the hose, trying to get some stuff out with his finger. When that didn't work he gets himself a stick. He gets up again and this time an upright quick step towards the window. Looking through it. He carries on to the flap still in his bipedal walk. At the flap he seems to be careful, you'll never know when Shufai is just hiding there. He didn't actually notice that Shufai was behind him and quickly followed him inside. Dad Oumbi makes a quick appearance. He doesn't stay out long in this weather. He mostly stays inside. Just quickly grabbed some food and back inside he goes.
Inside Lope is spread out on the floor, but all of a sudden gets up, hits the wall and sits down. He has a drink of water, turns around and hits the wall again. He moves over to the straps, bites them and beats his chest looking in Shufai's direction. Unfortunately, they disappear into the back so can't continue filming. The window on the left still hasn't been repaired so inside footage is a bit limited right now.

Genet, Jambo's daughter is coming outside. Her dad is already outdoors. Enjoying another nice winter's day.
It's the first time I've seen Jambo in the hammock outside (I think lol). He gets some chimp biscuits out and moves on.
He collects some more to take inside with him. It's great to just see them enjoying their food without any incidents.

The moment we have been waiting for! Orangutan mother and grandmother Jazz is looking after her newborn baby and the newborn baby of her daughter. Sprout was too inexperienced to look after her son and when she gave birth she walked away. Her mother Jazz picked the baby up straight away and never let it go since.
Jazz is sitting up the top. Her mum Jazz with the two babies below her. Sprout followed them around in the past, but always at quite a distance.
Jazz sits on a log with baby Jim and Joe while she tries to squeeze a spot. At that point son, Jim is on her left and Joe on the right.
To my delight suddenly Sprout appeared. She's taking Jim's arm first, holding it, sniffing it. Then she moves over to the other site. Sits next to her mum. Jim is trying to grab Joe's face. Jim slightly touches Sprout's hand and then Sprout starts playing with her son's hair. While she is doing that have a look at Jazz, she looks at her daughter and watches her and plays with the food on her lip. Looking quite content for Sprout to do what she does. Sprout holds her hand out and an inquisitive Jim tries to grab her hand. When Sprout pulls his hand, he pulls away. Sprout still has her hand out and then pulls her's son's arm up ( She didn't yank the arm as hard as it looks in the video, I just edited a bit out as it was me that jolted the camera, I just got too excited about the magic moment lol) Jazz is watching, but is quite happy for Sprout to check out her son. Sprout puts her son's arm in her mouth and slightly bites on it. Joe pulls away his hand. Sprout still holding onto his arm. After that Jazz moved around.
Later in the afternoon. Sprout approached the three again. Sat close to her mum and the babies. Her son was holding his arm out and then Jim was doing the same. So she held Jim's hand first and I think Jazz was pulling Jim away a little. That's when she let go and then started to hold her son Joe's hand. Joe grabbed one of their fingers and then Sproud was holding his hand. She let go. Sprout watches her mum clean Jim's bits. Jazz is holding Jim's foot and Joe is nibbling on Jim's foot. Sprout gets up and has a proper look and then sits down again. Joe is fully awake looking at his mum. Sprout starts playing with her son's hand again. Jazz pulls both babies closer. Sprout grabs Jim's leg to have a look. As Jazz seemed to finish cleaning Jim her son, she now starts to clean Joe's bits. When she's done she moves around and goes back inside. What a magic day! I can't wait to go again to see how it all develops between the four. What do you think, does Sprout know who her son is?

Orangutan Jazz is an amazing Mother and grandmother. Looking after both her baby and her daughter's baby.
At Dudley zoo, they always get their drinks in bottles. It's just flavoured water, nothing sweet. It's normally sugar-free fruit tea. Jazz is still holding on tightly to her baby Jim and her daughter's baby Joe when she gets her bottle. She really has her arms full and carrying the bottle in her mouth. She's the epitome of a multitasking mum. Sprout, her older daughter and mum of Joe is sitting by the water with her food and drink. The concrete walls you see are part of their old enclosure. They've got the new enclosure next door adjacent to this. At the time of filming the new enclosure was taken up for a few hours by the flanged male Orangutan Benji and Benji likes his own space he doesn't like company, so they are sharing the new space.
Jim is on her left and Joe is on her right. Jim tries to get to the nicely-coloured bottle.
Sprout is on the move walking past Jazz and the babies. She has got a carrot at the bottom of her drink.
Jazz moves as well, making sure the babies are holding on and she's carrying the bottle in her mouth. Jim is still trying to grab the bottle. Climbing is not a problem for her, she manages it all.
A few close-ups of Sprout enjoying her drink. Up above Jim is still trying to get to the bottle and Sprout tries to get the carrot piece out of the bottle. Before she bites the bottle, she takes a stick and tries it with that. That's what I love about her, she's always thinking, looking for a resolution to any problems. Like when she was a baby, using a newspaper to circumference the electric fence. Did you see the video? (This is the link to that video https://youtu.be/STBX5c5cuDQ). In the end, she bites a little hole in the bottle to get the piece out. A close-up of Jim. Joe is suckling on the other side. Jim tries to play with the bottle, but Jazz moves it to her side. She makes sure the babies are holding on when she moves. A quick look at dad, Djimat.

You know when Chimpanzee Flynn is just about to jump-charge the window, his hair goes up, he starts hooting and then he charges and jumps with all fours on the glass. You might have seen Chimpanzee Flynn on my channel before. He loves doing this. I think he gets a kick out of scaring unsuspecting visitors. This is one side of him, but the other side is really sweet. Out of all the chimps, he is the one that always comes to the window without fail. Especially when he recognises the people. He loves sitting at the window watching the people and the sweetest thing of all is that he always offers to share his food with him when you hold your hand out.
Today he choose to eat in front of the window, showing me all the biscuits he managed to collect outside and then he's offering up some treats to the visitors. A close-up of his hand and foot. Jambo the hairless chimp lying behind him. Flynn turns around and grooms him. When I moved to the other window, Flynn followed.
Outside Flynn gets some more food at dinner time and balances up the rope back to go inside. Steady there Flynn :-).
A little later Flynn is back outside again and Coco the oldest chimp and oldest animal at Twycross zoo is running towards him. Flynn takes her in his arms and patted her back. Wouldn't be able to describe it any better than the people's reaction in the video. Awwww. When Coco goes on the back of him, Flynn has a split-second look on his face "what are you doing, I'm sure it suppose to be the other way around" Kibali has a quick look and then they're going their separate ways.
To finish it all off, another pat on the head for Coco.
As you'll see Mum and grandma Jazz is still holding on tight to both of the babies. Joe her own son and her daughter's son Jim. She is still doing a grand job caring for the two babies. I was lucky enough to see them both awake and wiggling in mum's arms.

Jazz was proud to show off the two babies as she came quite close.
Nothing much changed with dad Djimat. The gentle giant was resting and yawning at the back.
Jazz started pulling a face when she was chewing on a leave. Maybe it was a bit sour or just too chewy?
Joe who is nearly a month older than Jim was wiggling quite a lot already. If we think she's got her hands full now. She definitely will when both are getting bigger and start wiggling. I'm sure she will be fine. She feeds both regularly and she doesn't differentiate between the two either. When she's climbing, she makes sure they hold on tight. If one slips she uses her feet to hold them. At times it is quite difficult telling the two apart, especially when they are sleeping, cuddling up in Jazz's arms. If you look closer at Joe's chest, it looks like when he's stretching that he has a little heart pigmentation on his chest (might need a little imagination lol). How sweet is that? Sprout wasn't too far away, fishing out the leaves from the water and eating them. She's not as subdued as she was before. I do still feel sorry for her and wish I could give her a hug. I'm sure in time Sprout will come around. After Sprout, you'll see that Jazz switched the babies over. Joe is now on the left and Jim is on the right.

Gorilla mum Viringika is after her baby daughter's food and starts chasing after her. Vuko is quickly jumping down the rocks, doing a backward roll into the grass and trying to hold on to her food. Mum is actually losing more food in chasing her little girl than she is going to gain from taking it from her daughter, but it's not just about the food, it's about Vuko learning the hierarchy of the troop. At the bottom of the rocks, mum catches her and stops her from rolling any further, pries open her little hands and gets the food. Vuko isn't phrased and quickly collects the other food that mum lost during the chase.
Mum sits on the rock and baby Vuko starts to look through the bush to find some more food. When she does, mum is quick to take it all off her again. Her daughter still manages to keep little bits here and there.
A little later Vuko sits in the grass, holding a big potato. When she sees mum coming running towards her, she tries again for a quick getaway, but mum is quicker. It might seem cruel, but it's all about learning. Vuko goes and runs through the grass to find some more bits and bobs. She's certainly not giving up.
When her mother sits there to enjoy her food, Vuko tries her luck to see if mum is willing to give her some, but no luck there. In the end, they go inside with Vuko trying to hang on to mum's belly. I think she might be just a little too grown up for that position.
I think the other two going inside are Oundi and her son Koundi. It is Tamba and her son Louango by the wall.

A close-up of Jambo the hairless chimp. Zooming out, him having a nap in front of the window. He could do with some moisturizer, but even if the staff manages to put some on it would be licked off quicker than it went on. You don't often see him that close and surprisingly he looks actually quite small there all curled up in front of the window. He's got his red cabbage next to him. Obviously wasn't very hungry at that time.
When he's up again, a yawn and another close-up, including his foot. Then
a quick run about and kicking his leg just after he went through the back door. When he comes back out he makes his way to the red cabbage. I'm surprised it was still there and nobody tried stealing it.
The big Chimp group has been stuck inside during the day as the smaller group was out most of the day. So at the beginning of the evening when the doors did open, everyone came out straight away. They were probably glad about not going out into the heatearlier as it was much cooler in the evening which meant even Jambo stayed out a bit longer.
Genet, she's Jambo's daughter and I think it's Tuli who was out first. Then Victoria, Jambo and the others came from the other door. Jambo grabbed a lot of wood wool. He knew where he was going, but got sidetracked by a bit of broccoli lying near his daughter. So he picked that up and then went back to the wood wool and carried on. He grabbed another piece before his mum got his hands on it and then kept carrying his bed again. He paused when his group went past him. Jambo re-arranged his food, salad in his mouth and broccoli in one hand and bed in the other. He walked all the way around and climbed up to the shelter. Unfortunately just as he got to the top he lost most of his bedding. He seems to have forgotten everything about it as Samantha got closer. Jambo did the quick deed and had a little rest. That's until Kibali and Samantha walked past him. Jambo does his "scary hunchback of Twycross Zoo" running after the two and runs back again to his little bit of bedding left and he slides from one side to the other.
He climbs down and sits by the hammock. There was a little piece of straw hanging on it that caught his eye, so he picked it up with his lip and now it's sticking to his lip. He walks off. The straw has fallen from his lip and he picks up some lettuce leaves on his way back to the doors. There he picks up some more wood wool and goes inside. Wait for it, Jomar is photobombing me there in the corner.
Twycross Zoo must have got a big delivery of fresh aubergines (Eggplants).
Gorilla Lope was the first one to get as many as he could. He sits himself down when he thinks he's protected from anyone stealing them. Drops them to the ground and starts eating. Meanwhile, Biddy, his grandma got some as well. She carried one with her food and the rest in her arms. Oumbi was let out a little later so that the females and the boys can get their first share. Lope is packing up and moving all his aubergines. He walks upright across the grass. While he's holding his aubergines tightly in his arms he looks over to his Mum Ozala who enjoys some as well. Lope continues to go inside past his grandma. Ozala is packing up and moving as well. She looks like she has black clown shoes on, carrying those aubergines with her feet. When I get inside. Lope is still sitting by the door eating. Oumbi is about and the door gives him a chance for a quick getaway and as soon as his dad comes closer he's back out of the door. He walks upright again and looks for a place to eat the rest of his fruit. I'm not sure where Shufai and Asante were.

During this video famous female Gorilla Tamba from the Port Lympne Wild animal park in Kent is walking upright (bipetal) a few times. She's the aunt of Gorilla Lope and Shufai and just like her famous brother Ambam. A real family trade. They don't just do it for a few seconds, they actually feel very comfortable walking in the upright position.
If you watched this channel before, you know Gorilla Lope does it on a regular basis and his younger brother Shufai also walks upright.
Tamba is waiting for some food at the feeding site. Here, the food gets thrown down from the roof. I'm not sure who the female was that was with her. A big branch of leaves gets thrown down which Tamba grabs and she straight away goes to the upright position with her branch of leaves in her hand. In her famous video, she did this with her newborn son Louango in her arms, who is now 4 years old. More from Louango next week. She walks to the rocks, climbs up and enjoys her lunch. She climbs back down and has the rest sitting on the grass. Just look at her, how she is standing there, it's just amazing. Tamba gathers some more food and even has a clap at the end. I didn't get Ambam walking upright, but Tamba made my day. The queen of upright walks.

Jazz holding the two babies, when she turns around and shows her back, the next clip is of her daughter Orangutan Sprout (11) climbing off the netting. Sprout looks quite subdued which is understandable. The stress of giving birth, combined with her losing her close relationship with her mum took its toll. Her world must have come crashing down as she and her mum Jazz were very close before the birth of Jim. When Jim came mum focused her attention on her newborn and daughter Sprout seemed to struggle with that situation, then Sprout herself gave birth last weekend (23-24th July 2022) and she didn't know what to do. A few close-up shots of the babies and another clip of Sprout wearing her blonde wig. The last clip of Jazz tenderly cleaning the eyes of both of the babies. One with her finger, the other one with her tongue. Dad Djimat finds watching all a bit exhausting. Normally dads get separated from their offspring, but Djimat is a gentle giant who is very tolerant of the Mothers and their babies. In October 2021 the flanged male has joined Jazz and daughter Sprout. He arrived from Denmark Aalborg Zoo after a 30-hour trip to Dudley Zoo. The first Bornean orangutan to be moved since Brexit. A difficult assignment not just because of Brexit but because of Covid as well. Dudley zoo also just opened their new Orangutan outdoor habitat that was finished a few weeks back. They are still getting used to the new enclosure which they already tried out before they had their babies. Today it seems the Orangutan mothers stayed inside, perhaps to be monitored more closely.
Orangutan daughter Sprout seems to feel left out as mum puts all her energy in looking after the newborn.
Orangutan Mum Jazz holding her newborn baby in her arms. When she's tired she puts the wood wool under the baby's head before she lies down. She spreads the wood wool, holding the little one in her arms and then she has a rest. Sprout is laying at the other end and she looks really sad and bored. Before the baby came, Sprout and mum were very close. Always cuddling, always there for each and never far apart. Seeing her there like that, you just want to cuddle her and say everything will be OK. We know it's difficult to adapt to the situation, but things will get better.

Lowland gorilla baby Vuko (January 8th 2020) is wrestling her older brother Louango (May 25th 2018) to the ground at the Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. They still have their white bum spot. There is no definite answer why the little ones have this. Some say it's so mum can spot them easily when they are that young.
Louango (this is Tamba's son, Tamba is Ambam's sister and Ambam is the brother of Oumbi) is putting his arm around his half-sister, but she's having none of it and pushes him flat into the grass. Not just that, she then sits on him to hold him down. Mind you, Louango is not putting up much of a fight, but what a move from the two-year-old. She knows what she wants, she's a feisty one. He grabs her shoulder and tries to get away, but his sister is not giving up that easily, she sits on his back instead. Piggybacking on her brother. She only moves when her brother slings both arms onto the back trying to get her off. She runs away, climbs on the log. Louango tries to grab her, but she leaps off the log into the grass. The western lowland gorilla boy reaches over the log to grab some of the plant. Meanwhile Vuko is running through the grass after her mum Viringika. Look at those little legs go. Climbing over the logs and then catching up with mum grabbing her back. At the feeding site, Louango caught up with her again and tries to steal some food from her, jumping after her, but she gets away, bumping into her mother and in the end, she has some food in both hands.

Gorilla Asante from the Twycross Zoo really made me laugh, what an unexpected move from her in this video on the evening of Oumbi's Birthday, even Lope seemed surprised.
Gorilla Lope is doing his usual, annoying a family member. Today it's Aunt Asante turn to annoy. Asante you might know is quite timid and likes to be on her own most of the time. Asante is enjoying her lettuces at the bottom of the slope when Lope suddenly charges at her. She puts her arms out to keep him away. No, no that wasn't the great move, that's still to come! At the top when Asante is by the hut. Lope still charges past her and then slides down the hill. A typical Lope move only the rascal himself can pull off. Like he's skateboarding down that slope😁.
He tries to intimidate her by staring at her and when she she sits on top of the climbing frame, he sneaks up to her and stares at her again. You think Lope is going to charge in any minute, but then he climbs back down again.
Inside Lope beats his chest at her. A close-up of Asante sucking her thumb When she turns around, Lope beats its chest at her again and then throws some wood wool at her. Asante hits him and moves to the other side. No, no that wasn't the great move either :-). Watch out for the next clip back outside. When Lope follows Asante and then walks past her to the window ( 30 on the window was for Oumbi's birthday party earlier that day) Lope looks through the window, but keep your eye on Asante, just after Shufai runs past with a tree branch in his hand. I had to loop this bit as I couldn't quite believe Asante was brave enough to do this to our rascal. I thought no, did that just happen? Then I couldn't stop laughing, watching it again. Lope just looked at her, probably thinking the same "Did that just happened"

Lope covered himself with the hessian sack, birthday banner from his Dad's birthday. He runs past his mum and Shufai. Shufai then grabs it off him. He puts it on his head and walks over to the rocks. Mum follows but sits down on the rocks. Shufai goes to the other side. Sits down for the second looking at the banner. Next clip, he lays down on his back on the sack, feet in the air and then he pulls on the grass so he slides down the slope a little. Then he grabs the sack and rolls down, he gets up in he almost does a cartwheel and then a roll and a few more down the slope. Running back up and another roll. He then puts his cape on and walks to the hatch, punches it before he goes back inside.

An extra video today. As you might know from my community post yesterday, it was Silverback Oumbi's 30th Birthday. Happy Birthday Oumbi.
The staff paints a few 30th on the windows with some food paint. Oumbi watches from the inside waiting for the doors to open up. Unfortunatly even before Oumbi comes out one of the banners has already fallen to the ground. It was attached with sticky food and was a bit too heavy. Oumbi was most interested in the lettuces which he took and sat by the hut. Standing there with the bum towards me you can slightly see him twitching. Warning the others to stay away. Shufai came and he knew exactly where to look for more treats. He removed all the wood wool from the hammock and found a fire hose which has some leaves in it. A bit later, Lope, Oumbi's older son runs towards the water. Shufai follows his brother. Lope gets all the sticky food stuff, the 30 made out of food, that is on the rocks. As Shufai comes closer, Lope runs at him and hits him. Shufai rolls backwards. Biddy sitting in the middle. Shufai quickly climbs down to get any leftovers. Both the brothers run to the food puzzle which has some sticky stuff in it. Ozala, their mother is climbing down from the tree to get some treats as well. It doesn't take long until Lope is back at the puzzle. Lope is being clever this time, he has got a stick which he uses to get some more out. Ozala is now by the pool and she grabs all the pieces that are in the water which you don't see too often. Meanwhile Shufai is jumping on the window ledge and is licking off all the sticky stuff from there. Lope is watching him. Now Shufai is even standing up on the ledge to get some more. He's the only one that can still do this. The ledge is too small for Lope to balance on. Even Shufai hasn't got much room and when he loses the balance a bit he jumps down. Lope was just about to get some of the window himself when Oumbi came charging, which made him run the opposite way. Shufai jumped back up and had some more. Oumbi found the piece of paper that was stuck to the window and is licking off the sticky stuff. When he has enough he throws it to the side, but Shufai finds some more sticky stuff on the discarded sign. Lope was just about to go back to the puzzle, when Oumbi comes charging at him again. Oumbi isn't interested in that green puzzle, he just wanted the lettuces. He goes back inside and Shufai drags the sign inside. That's when Asante has a look at the green puzzle hanging off the tree. Before Asante goes back inside she tries to get some more of the sweet stuff off the window with her finger. Oumbi has a last look towards window with the 30 on it.

The Baby Gorilla called Lope from the Twycross Zoo in Atherstone England does not like the Rain! He's trying to wipe the rain from his head, pounding his chest before he storms off in a hilarious human Impression.
UK Heatwave and the chimps are getting some ice. William is sitting in front of the window and has his bottle of layered treats in his hands. There is some flavoured ice in there and a piece of fruit as well. William is definitely enjoying it and I am glad he likes to share his moment in front of the window rather than the back. He ribs off the bottom of the bottle and is careful not to cut himself on the plastic. A quick look at his reflection, checking his eye and then back to the bottle. Looking closer at the bottle it might even be a piece of sweet potato between the ice layers, not sure. He shows me the ice cube on his lips, and a knocks on the window. Making sure I'm still watching.
He sticks his tongue in the bottle and is trying to get little bits of ice out of it. He loves sitting there on his ball. Very clever how he rolled the ball in front of the window to give him that extra hide to be able to do balance and sharing his moment. I only wish I had an ice cream as well😊. If it was chimpanzee Flynn he would have offered to share as he always does.
William rips the bottle some more to get the last little bit out. I did hope he isn't going to cut himself, but he was so gentle and he knew what he was doing. No cuts just nice cold ice to cool down in the heat and he discarded the bottle afterwards.

Silverback Oumbi is getting a bit frustrated as none of the females wants to know. Oumbi has his eye on Ozala. Ozala is quite wary of him and keeps him in her view. She comes closer to the silverback which surprised me as she normally avoids him totally. She keeps her eyes on him and just in front of him, she slowly changes her direction. Oumbi sits down for now while his boys in the back are being their usual rascals. Ozala comes back and just stands in front of him, looking at him. Another quick glance in his direction and then she moves on. That's when Oumbi charges through the room. He stands by the door contemplating his next move. Biddy is in the back on the wood wool, watching the two. He charges again. Ozala quickly moves out of his way. Ozala seems to actually want his attention as she moves close to him, but I don't think she wanted to get run over and that's exactly what Oumbi does. He charges again and literally charges over Ozala. Poor Ozala falls backwards and I'm hoping she hasn't hit her head on that log. That's when everything kicks off. The boys start to chase Oumbi and scream. Biddy screams as well. As always it's over in seconds. Asante makes a quick appearance in the back. The silverback sits down and everybody gets on with what they were doing before. Ozala seems fine, so I think she was lucky not to have hit her head.
Today I'll take you to the Inversnaid Falls in Scotland. The falls are quite hidden on the site of the Inversnaid hotel both are on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond. The water surges down from Loch Arklet which you will see in an upcoming video.

Short but sweet clip today. Flynn the Chimpanzee is getting a kiss.
He's sitting on the top bunk. A lot of pant-hoot sounds of excitement going on. Flynn has his mouth open and is staring at Tuli. Flynn pants and he can't keep his eyes off Tuli. He opens his mouth again and Tuli comes closer and gives Flynn a big kiss. He's still looking at her, touching her head, then her hand. I would have loved to have stayed and filmed more, but a group of school children came in so it got a bit overcrowded in there.
Silverback Gorilla Oumbi from the Twycross zoo was actually in quite a relaxed mood all day. As you saw from the last video, even the brother hard play didn't bother him at all. Maybe that's what made his sons want to bait him even more in this video.
Oumbi is sitting outside in the sun. Lope is giving dad some stares. Taking his charging stance and then walks past him all huffy and puffy. Oumbi just wants to relax in the sun and he's not reacting. Lope disappears for a few seconds before he takes his stance again in front of his dad and then walks back inside. Lope comes out once more and does the same thing. Oumbi is biting his lip, staring back at his son. Lope moves to the other side of him. Oumbi doesn't move a muscle until Lope goes back inside. You'll see Oumbi start moving when Lope went inside. It was all quite tense. A close up of Oumbi's head and then you'll see Shufai his younger son poking his head out from the back of the hut. He goes inside and Oumbi moves some wood wool.
Concentrating on Oumbi, all of sudden Lope comes charging back out and starts his staring game again. When Shufai comes out, Lope charges toward the hut and hits it. Shufai moved behind the hut. Lope goes back towards his dad in his aggravating stance. I'm surprised the Silverback is still this calm. Now it really is getting intense as Shufai starts with the same pose towards his dad. I thought Shufai is standing between his dad and his brother to maybe calm things down. Shufai moves towards the door, Lope walks closer to his dad. Frustrated Shufai pulls the door flap. Lope moves again and now it seems like Shufai stands with his brother as both now face their dad. Oumbi is still surprisingly patient. Shufai sniffs his brother's bum and then both go back inside. Only then does Oumbi moves again. It's not long and the brothers are back out again. Shufai does like sniffing bums lol. Lope isn't happy and charges past his dad. Shufai pushes the door flap and then it's a bit like "what do I do now" He looks at dad and rips up some grass. Then, well I'm not sure. He does some stretches, then Shufai shuffles until Lope comes back. Oumbi still doesn't seem to be interested in what his boys do, but when the boys get closer he finally had enough, gets up and charges past them. It's more of a charge saying "can't a silverback have some peace and quiet". The boys don't give up and follow him. Shufai is close on his big brother's heels. Lope takes his stance again and Oumbi just looks at his eldest. Ozala the boys' mother grazes in front of her boys. Lope and Shufai move away a bit from their dad. When Lope charges again, Oumbi starts charging away from the boy toward the direction of the camera. His hairs were all standing up. 200kg of power. You can see that Oumbi was in a pretty good mood. We know what he's capable of, seeing him pouncing on his son or the time when he threw Ozala across the floor. This time he just wanted to let the boys know that he's fed up with their antics and just wants to be left in peace. Oumbi sits down, but gets back up again and walks towards the others. Lope has a quick look around and walks upright inside. Shufai waits for his mum, Ozala gives Oumbi a couple of glances before they go inside.

His little hand in mum's hand. His little feet get a check as well. When it comes to the face and ears, he tries to wiggle free, but Mum has to do her job. Some well-earned milk for the little one afterwards. #baby #babyBonobo #BabyAnimal
The GoBros are playing hard. Chasing past their dad.
Shufai the younger one of the brothers gives Lope a little touch, but his brother is not reacting. So Shufai goes and plays with the hose. Lope now starts to charge. Shufai runs towards him and they both beat their chest at each other. They start wrestling when Oumbi photobombs me filming. Asante sitting in the back on the platform. Oumbi sits down and has a snack. He's in a pretty relaxed mood.
The brothers chase each other, and Shufai picks some food pellets up in between. I apologize for the glare, it's quite bad in there. Aunt Asante tries to stay out of the way. Oumbi is now in the far left corner, while the Ozala their mother and grandma Biddy are in the right corner. The boys are face to face.
Shufai made himself bigger by standing on the log and bending over his brother biting him in the neck. When Lope pulls back, Shufai falls to the ground and they wrestle and bite each other some more. They only stop when their dad moves, but he's not interested. Not even when his young son is spinning in front of him. The brothers carry on. Shufai doesn't give up, even when his brother gives him a hard push so he falls backwards. He just gets back up again and chases Lope again.
A few seconds to breathe and Oumbi is back by the left wall. The GoBros wrestle again. Oumbi has a lie-down, feet up the wall. One of his favourite positions. A close up of his foot and crossing his legs. Lope is pretty out of breath, but not too tired to grab the rope and hit his brother with it.
Jambo the fascinating hairless chimp from Twycross zoo has a little skip to start with. Running around, past Kibali (the wannabe rival for the Alpha male position), then Holly. When he's sitting on the ribbon, Kibali comes and has another look. Jambo moves to the hammock behind the yellow flowers. He found a little snack and then he's on the move again to go inside.
Silverback Oumbi is walking upright inside when Lope comes running and climbs up to the climbing frame to get some food scattered there. The trouble is, his mum Ozala is already there and you know nobody gets in her way when there is food about. She has a go at her son and then jumps after him. Grandma Biddy is in the far back in one of her favourite spots (depending on where the sun is shining). Ozala continues chasing her son. Lope tries to get some food again on the climbing frame, but Ozala stands her ground. Biddy watching from afar. Lope is not one for giving up so keeps trying again and again. Trying to intimidate his mother. When he stands there in front of her, you can see how much he's grown. He will be a fine Silverback one day, I'm sure of it. Ozala ignores him, but you can see she's still on guard and she always has one eye on her son. Lope waits for his moment and then runs past her while beating his chest. She tries to grab him, but he gets away. Lope is still running around, passing his younger brother Shufai, then he hits the climbing frame. That's when Ozala is chasing him again. Shufai comes into the mix......, but more on Monday for the second part.

Gorilla Shufai is chasing his big brother Lope. When they come outside the second time, Lope has stolen the hessian sack of his brother. Shufai really loves this sack and has been playing with it for days. Lope teases him, that he's got it now by waving it in front of him. Lope runs away, puts the hessian sack on his head and starts running with Shufai in close pursuit. I'm surprised Lope can still see where he's running. He manages to find the door hatch and both run inside. When they reemerge Lope still has the sack that Shufai tries to get back. Then Shufai gives up and just goes back inside. I'm sure there was another sack there somewhere, but you know what it's like you with brothers one always wants what the other one has. Lope climbs down from the climbing frame and goes inside as well. About 5 minutes later he sits outside again with the sack. Then goes back in and back out of the other side. He keeps looking at the door, obviously waiting for his younger brother to come out, but he doesn't come so Lope walks back inside.

The current gorilla family at Twycross consists of 6 members, which are Oumbi, Ozala, Biddy, Asante, Lope and Shufai Oumbi ( 30 June 1992) Sons : Okanda 17 Apr 2011 born at Twycross Zoo, Hand raised and now at München Hellabrunn Germany. ( Videos of the family in Munich: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXC1aShJSBiViApL3h3GqE3i1nmX62v5t) Lope ( 3rd Jan 2013) and Shufai (24th Sep 2016) were both born at Twycross Zoo in England and they are still at the Zoo. Ozala (19 Mar 1994), had four sons and one daughter. Ozala's first mate was Ti. Ozala and Ti had Matadi on the 25th of May 2003 at Twycross Zoo. Then they had their daughter Ndoki on the 3rd of May 2007, but she sadly died on the 29th Aug 2007, unknown cause. Matadi is at the Antwerp Zoo in Belgium with his mate Mayani and they had a baby girl called Thandie. Ti died in 26 Feb 2007, the cause of it was a stroke. Oumbi got moved to Twycross Zoo in 2009 to mate with the females. Ozala was Oumbi chosen mate. Asante (6th Jun 1985) is Ozalas half-sister. She hasn’t got any offspring. Biddy is Ozala's Mum as she was born in the wild in 1973, there is no record of siblings or parents. Her offspring are Mambie and Ozala.
t's so good to see Kala spending time with her son Hasani who is full of energy.
As you might know from previous videos, baby gorilla Hasani had to be hand-reared for a while as his Mother Kala couldn't look after her baby. A very skinny Hasani got bottled fed by the staff for a few months until he was strong enough to be able to go back to the troop, but Kala his mum was just not interested. As Kera showed some interest the staff trained her to look after the baby. Both Kera and Kala now share babysitting duties.
Shufai is enjoying the spring weather, resting, and sunbathing on his hessian sack. It's not raining for a change and the sun is beating down. He lifts his foot up in the air and turns around. After his rest, it's playtime. He hugs his sack, puts it over his head and then gets dressed. Wearing it over his belly. Unfortunately no belt was provided so he lost his 'trousers' :-). He goes to the hut's wall and knocks on it. I'm not sure if his big brother Lope is on the other side. He walks with his 'trousers' down and rests in the grass again. There he has a sniff at his hand and tries to put back the sack, but he gets his leg caught while the sack is over his head. He tries to wiggle free, but now he has the sack around his body still with his leg all caught up. He gets up and tries to walk which is all a bit difficult with his foot being caught up. I'm glad Lope doesn't see him like this. Who knows what he would have done. He finally gets free and quickly runs inside.
A bit later Lope is taking the sack still outside and puts it over his head. Walks off and sits down when he found a snack. He suddenly turns back to look who's behind him. It's his mother Ozala. So he just carries on eating.
The chimps love to kick the doors and the windows before feeding time. Jambo the hairless chimp is running up to the metal door and kicking it with all his power. He doesn't just use one leg, he jumps up to the door with both of his legs kicking it. Everyone gets excited and they want to show off their power and I'm sure they do like the sound of kicking against the metal and the glass making the people jump.
The wide-angle view shows a bit more of the enclosure, but this is still only a small part. They have a big outdoor area and there is a big off view area as well. Unfortunately, they haven't managed yet to put the three separated chimpanzees in the main group yet. When this happens the space will double in size.
Jambo is balancing along the top. Even Coco (57) the oldest animal at Twycross Zoo and Jambos Mother is making herself heard. Hooting away on the rope.
Jambo is still the Alpha male in the group. I'm guessing a lot of that has to do with the females being quite fond of him and helping him when he gets challenged for the role by the younger male Kibali. In this video you'll see him at the end chasing after another chimp that's out of line, but that is rather rare. He is more likely to ignore confrontation if he can.
After dinner everyone is happy and it gets quiet. Coco is having her food and Flynn munching away in front of the window.

Gorilla Kera is charging at Kala. The mum and Surrogate mum of Baby gorilla Hasani, but where is he? I thought he might be with the staff to get his bottle, but then he appeared from behind the hut. Little Hasani is getting quite the exercise. Little Juni who is roughly the same age as Hasani is always riding on mum Touni's back. Hasani seems to grow up much faster and explore by himself. The mothers do take turns carrying him, but a lot of times he walks around behind them. At the hut, Hasani is in the corner, while Kera is sunbathing. When she finished, Hasani has gone exploring in the grass and I'm unable to see him anymore.

Jambo the hairless chimpanzee is getting himself some lunch. Collecting as much as he can. Some chimps got hold of a red ball with some goodies in it. Jambo is happy sticking with his greens.
Biddy has a sit down in the wood wool. As she starts to go to sleep I'm filming the GoBros. Ozala joined her mum in the back for a sleep. Suddenly you'll see Biddy jumping up, poor Biddy slips on the floor but then she takes her defensive stance. I'm not sure if it was something she was dreaming about, but there was nothing there I could see that made her jump. Not even Oumbi was nearby. The two boys and Ozala are all looking at her. I can't zoom in on Biddy's face as she's partly hidden. Ozala seizes the opportunity to take all the wood wool to make herself comfy. Lope is still staring at his grandmother, but then when Biddy relaxes again everyone else moves on. Biddy moves passed the window as she gathered some more wood wool with her feet.

Sweet Chimpanzee William from the Twycross Zoo's Chimpanzee Eden is sitting on a huge ball. His balance is amazing. He knocks on the glass. Has something to eat and then he starts licking the glass.
William (30th June 1982) is Jambo's (Hairless Chimp) brother and one of three chimps still separated from Jambo's group until the larger group will accept them into their group. As it has been a few years trying to do this already, it shows that it isn't as easy as it sounds.
