Benji, a lone male Orangutan, breaks his ice into smaller pieces. It's a hot day at the Dudley Zoos and our beloved Orangutan family gets a cold treat. Orangutan supermum got her ice treat. The babies Jim and Joe look at her and try to grab her arm so they can have some, but she's not sharing. Sprout has her own ice and comes to have a look at Jazz, Jim and Joe before she made herself comfy on the logs. Jazz making a sucking sound😂, really enjoying that ice. Djimat prefers his without the yoghurt pot and takes it straight out. He's done that before. He plays with the ice in his mouth and just as I zoom in a little you can just see him blink as he bites on the ice. After he has a scratch, Sprout joins him. Those two are spending quite a bit of time together and Sprout is definitely the instigator. I believe Sprout is still on contraceptives. Hopefully, she will be for a while, as she's got some more learning to do from her mum. Djimat looks over at Sprout. She has put on quite a bit of weight over the last year. With everything going on it hasn't been easy for her. Djimat grabs the yoghurt pot and tries to get the rest of the liquid out of it. Sprout then grabs the yoghurt pot while it's still in Djimat's mouth and pulls it out. Djimat does amaze me, he's such a laid-back male Orangutan. When Sprout moves away he gets the yoghurt pot back. Sprout still got her chunk of ice in her mouth. On the other side, the babies are playing with the yoghurt pots. When Jazz gets up to move the babies try to hold on to her. Jim loses his pot. Benji next door the lone male Orangutan sits by his crate ( more on that in a bit) he is hitting his ice against the concrete to make smaller pieces. #SloggerVlogger #OrangutanBaby #BabyOrangutan Benji video coming on Friday! Orangutan Mother Jazz (30) from the Dudley Zoo became super mum as she's not just looking after her own baby boy Jim born (born 25th of June 2022), now she's looking after her daughter's newborn baby Joe (born 23rd July 2022) as well, as her daughter found first-time motherhood a little bit challenging. When her daughter Sprout gave birth she walked away and left the baby on the floor. Mother Jazz picked the baby up straight away. Jazz is nursing both and giving both love, care and attention. Flanged Orangutan male Djimat is the dad of both babies. Make sure to watch the two babies grow up. Discover the fascinating story of Benji, the remarkable Orangutan at Dudley Zoo. Despite being a lone male who prefers his solitude. The zoo staff made efforts to pair him with Jazz, but unfortunately, Benji showed no interest. A distinct characteristic of Benji is his strong attachment to a red bread crate, which acts as his comforting companion. Whether he's sitting inside it or carrying it around, the crate seems to provide him with a sense of security. Whenever the crate becomes damaged, it greatly upsets Benji, but the staff promptly replaces it, though it takes some time for him to adjust to the new one. Interestingly, Benji has a fondness for the company of female keepers and visitors, earning him the reputation of a ladies' "man." He eagerly approaches them to satisfy his curiosity. On the flip side, Benji exhibits a dislike for human males, particularly those who are bald, for reasons unknown. In their presence, he can become quite grumpy and agitated.
