via IFTTT Gorilla Lope from Twycross Zoo seems a lot more relaxed in his new bachelor pad. He had some ice for breakfast as it was unusually hot already, and the best thing was that Lope didn't have to share; it was all his. He did have some abrasion above his eye. I'm not sure how he got it. He came out and got himself some food. At first, he didn't notice the ice they had put out for him. He took a look around and then went for the summer treat. Normally, they put fruit tea into it to flavour the ice without making it too sweet. He licked it at first, but then he started banging it against the log. After a close-up of his huge wet hands, he smashed the ice again and finally managed to break off a piece. It made him jump a little when it came off. He looked around, picked up the broken-off bit, had a quick lick, and then went back to the hanging chunk of ice. He slobbered a bit as he took another piece out of his mouth, not sure what was on the bottom of the ice – it looked like some kind of cereal, maybe. He returned to his broken-off bit of ice, trying to bite off the bottom. I always love how he crunches up his face, eyes closed, really savouring it – playing with a piece in his mouth. He turned around, and you could see that his hand got a bit cold as he shook it. He went back to smashing the ice, then tried to pry it apart with his fingers. He continued smashing it against the pole, covering himself in little pieces of ice. Another close-up of his hands. He kept going until only a little bit was left. I think he almost enjoyed the smashing more than the eating. In the end, he lay down in the shade outside. Stay connected and never miss a moment!
