via IFTTT The hairless Chimpanzee Jambo from Twycross Zoo tries to get some ice from his female friend, but Josie isn't in the mood for sharing her big piece and she turns around. Jambo is being quite nice about it, he doesn't make her share. Flynn is in the background. Then Joesie manages to break off a piece and she lets it fall in Jambo's direction. Jambo picks it up. Flynn gets a few little bits. Josie uses her foot to help her hold on to the cold ice. Jambo spits some of it out as it was probably too much at once. Watch him as he gets back up again and waves away a butterfly. Shooing it off with his hand. He finished his piece and gets the other one. As he sucks on it, the piece of ice slips out of his mouth. He manages to catch it with his hand. When I concentrate on Josie, you can just see Jambo's hand in the back shooing off the butterfly once more. He just doesn't like butterflies. Jambo moves around Josie hoping for another bit. He doesn't seem to like the cold on his hand, he rather bends down to pick the ice up with his mouth. #HairlessChimpanzee #hairlesschimp There was plenty of Ice all over Chimpanzee Eden, but it was more the case of "I want what you're having" and didn't want to look for the other pieces. Hairless Chimp Jambo, the alpha male was born at Twycross Zoo in England. He has had alopecia, a form of hair loss since his youth. Born on June 9, 1982, his daughter Genet and his mother Coco (1965) share the same habitat. Coco is the oldest animal at Twycross Zoo. Jambo's siblings from his father's side, Holly (born December 27, 1982) and Jomar (born December 28, 1990), are also in the same habitat. His first son Peter is in neighbouring enclosures. William his half-brother sadly passed away in July 2023, unknown cause at the time of writing) In November 2018, Jambo lost his ear, possibly due to an accidental fight with his mother. Attempts to reattach it with skin glue failed as he continued to pick on it. In October 2022, he also lost a toe, with the cause unknown but possibly related to fights and agitation during mating season. In 2018, the chimpanzees received a new habitat called "Chimpanzee Eden." It spans 1,160 square meters and includes two seven-meter-high indoor spaces connected to a large outdoor area with climbing frames and huts.
